Anyone use a dog whistle?
Other than seeing one work hundreds of times over the years, I have zero experience other than Barney's :). I just want a "one toot" ....come 'ere dawgy....don't want to use something audible...the mouth "clicker" is already effective at just over 8 weeks though for short distances...impressive pup.
Tips, suggestions, advice welcome...thanks! |
Trined my golden to work with a dog whistle. Found just regular whistling worked best for me. Too convenient not having to carry anything.

I have one. Must be broken as I cannot hear it....;)
My border collie just listens to voice commands. I don't work her any real distance away from me though. |
Our dog can’t whistle but it can play an accordion.
No it can’t. I’m lying, she’s too stupid. Kudos for teaching yours to whistle though. |

My border collie started to chase people on bikes.....
So I took away her bike... |
Check Parf! Quite a few pros over there. :)

Since trained my golden to be a retriever, whistle once, she stops and looks at me for direction. Two oe three times and she returns. While retuning can whistle once and she stops again, then can send her off in another direction.
Could whistle myself worth a darn before I started trainin her is why I commented that I used a dog whistle, then found just whistling more convenient. |
^^^^ If you could teach me to whistle....my problem would be solved....but I am not a Lab or Golden....so good luck with that ;).
