Foxes are cool. I always enjoy seeing them around our neighborhood.

Years ago we had a family of foxes under our front door step, and this is in a very dense, suburban housing neighborhood. I was taking a phone call at night outside the front door, and all of a sudden I see a dark, kitten-like thing crawling around my feet. I didn't know fox kits were dark grey/black, so I didn't know what it was at first. They stayed there about a week longer until the kits started getting bolder and exploring more and more, and the interactions with my family / dogs became more commonplace. At one point my wife, who loves all fuzzy creatures, opened the door, found one on the stoop, and brought it inside the house (I know, I know, terrible idea). Eventually the mom got fed up and we watched her haul them into the woods behind our house one-by-one.

just don't go near them or touch a dead one.
Biohazzard for sure.
If your mom keeps chickens, that's about to end if they are not properly fenced.

Gainesville, Florida.

Mom is really lucky - house is on 5 acres in the middle of town. Pond out front, woods and creek in back, and close enough to UF to hear the crowds when the Gator football team scores a touchdown

Mom just sent more mail, now with video

I leave the foxes alone around my farm. They are great little hunters of things I despise. My game cams are littered with pictures of foxes.

They don't bother the things I enjoy, except chickens but we fixed that.

The pressure on the foxes here are coyotes - my neighbor has killed 8 this year.

Cool video.

I have spotted a fox on our block twice, have only seen it at dusk or dawn, very fluffy and grey looking but hard to tell the color in the low light. They normally live in the park a block away. I have seen them down at the tide pools, I presume foraging.

I have only seen one fox in my life in So Cal, and it was very far from any development.

You guys are lucky!

I see all kinds of wildlife in the line of work I am in. I have seen many foxes and a few Florida Panthers and some bob cats.

One that really rattled me was to see a bobcat in my backyard one morning, I am on a 1/4 acre lot in a subdivision in town. I do back up to the railroad so I am guessing it wanders along the sides of the tracks.

We have bears, cougar, bobcats, deer and in the last week 3 baby bunnies and a chipmunk in our den courtesy of the neighborhood feral cat we decided to adopt. She has her own private door into the den which we close off to the rest of the house. I am getting really good at catching small rabbits which I then take about 50 yards from the house so she has something to do.

I am going to start marking them with a Sharpie to see how many times we rescue the same one.

Lots of wildlife here in SoCal...everything from Lynx to Leopards, and everything in between.

We had one that our old lab would let sleep in the corner of the yard. The new lab is a bit like Lennie and would play with it to death and the beagle doesn't like outsiders.

We generally see them out playing in the fields across the road. All sorts of other critters too. Some welcome, some not so much.

my folks live on 5 acres in prunedale in no. monterey and had a pair that had a den up at the top of their property that had 3 litters of pups over the years. this was like 10 years ago and after those 3 seasons they never saw the two of them there again. not many fox sightings recently, but there is currently a bobcat that traverses their property that they spot weekly. coyotes are a regular occurrence too

my pops wages a full time battle with gophers and ground squirrels that when traps are successful he takes them bastards up the hill to feed the critters in view of his game cam. great footage from time to time. he wishes there was a large enough predator to aid in culling the turkeys because they cause havoc by *****ting all over his driveway, shop frontage concrete and other places he wishes they would not. he hates the noise they make too that wakes him at sun up every morning.
