2002 BMW 325i Battery replacement
My boss is getting ready to replace the battery in his 2002 BMW 325i. Is there any resetting of a computer or any strange stuff to consider? I would think pull out old, install new and drive but never had a BMW.
Thanks. |

I have an ‘04. It’s just a straight swap, nothing to reset or reprogram.

NOT familiar with BMW...but for my '09 Mustang I used a gadget that would plug into the always live female 12v outlet. (The cigarette lighter to us old folks) On the other end, a 9V (transistor radio) battery. The 9 volts kept everything alive while the battery was being changed.
(edit) Mine is a simple device like this one...have had it for a long time, decades. Worked fine for saving radio codes and seemed to work for the Mustang. But when searching for this, I note that there are now "memory savers" that plug into OBD II ports. Those probably work better. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lag-295a (more edit) Seems our host sells something that'll work https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2016.cgi?SUPERCAT_FLAG=Y&command=DWsearch&description=Memory%2520savers
