My 1964 Corvair Spyder Convertible on BaT

Hey guys, some of you here followed my 4 year rotisserie restoration I did on my 1964 Corvair Spyder turbocharged convertible. I put the car up for sale to make room in the garage for my next project. It's on Bring A Trailer this week.

If you are interested you can check out the listing here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-chevrolet-corvair-monza-spyder-turbo-convertible/

Beautiful car. IIRC, my dad had a red one way back when.

Beautiful car! Sounds like a Porsche! Wow - well done on both car and classified. The videos especially were a nice touch!

Good luck, Nick!

Thanks guys, yes the Corvair really was the "American Porsche". Not that a Corvair compares in engineering detail to any Porsche but they had an air cooled flat 6 several years before Porsche and a turbocharger over a decade before Porsche.

Really neat history...probably, to this day, the most unique thing that GM has ever built...probably the last time GM let the automotive engineers run free. The Corvair project taught GM to keep the accountants in charge LOL.

nothing but raves in the auction comments section. I hope you at least get the money you spent on this excellent job back. Yes, Corvairs are a small market, but it seems an enthusiastic one.

If I had it, I'd opt for the special plate route. See if I could get F NADER.

That's why I said Porsche -- not 911.

I just love GM cars from the early Bill Mitchell era.

Yep, that’s one of the reasons I like them, plus fun to drive. When I was keeping my eye out for a cheap, fun old car to play with a Gen 2 Corvair was near the top of the list. Found a ‘65 VW first. No regrets, but I still think a Corvair would be fun.
