No reason to twiddle around with sissy Porsches or Ferraris. Go straight to the Mustang. |
It must be fun to have toys at that level.
It is so cool that a 100% stand up man, and total car guy has toys for us to drool over. Go Jay, GO! |
Dad worked on those Packard Merlins during the war, he even worked on the P38 project to see if they would work. Did I already say that?

Top Gear (UK) featured a "Bentley-Merlin" and a BMW-Brutus. The Brutus engine is 46 liters.
DEFINITELY worth watching: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2nqem1 |

Jay pulled up to a Jaguar event I was attending in SoCal in that Bentley and was more than happy to chat to my Dad and I about it. Nice guy.
I used to own a Griffin which was the generation after the Merlin. They were used in the Mk26 Spitfires and Avro Shackletons. We bought it for 500 pounds from a RAF when they closed down the local Air Cadets chapter. The quality of the parts was astounding to a ignorant young man like myself. Each part polished and serialized. It was sold on to an American gentleman who I believe shoe-horned it into one of those warbird racers. I later went on to work for Vickers Defense where we had warehouses full of Meteor V12 Rolls Royce tank engines - a cousin of the Merlin |
