I scored a pair of Edward Greens for about $400 in a sale rack. Had no idea what I was getting, but saw the original price >$1200. They will out last my feet.

I can never seem to get past the research phase and onto the purchase phase. I can buy nice stuff, it's just that I have to research it to death and by the time I'm done researching it, I've moved onto something else.

I was more focused on the becoming old part. Expensive gear is why I’m still alive.

It was my birthday recently. The smokin' hot babe who puts up with my sch!t went way overboard. She gave me a kilt from Stumptown Kilts:

Some folks think kilts on men are femmy. I notice that girls think they look cool and that Scottish men throw telephone poles for sport. Just sayin'.

She also presented to me a Filson medium duffel bag. Filson stuff is the theme I used to start this thread. If you want manly, outdoorsy, well-built (in the USA) stuff, consider Filson. Buy things once. It's actually less expensive.

I can't seem to get myself to invest in pricey, quality things. I have an old, cheap sweatshirt a friend gave me almost thirty years ago. I still have a Woolrich shirt from 1960, and a pair of Frye boots from 1970 along with a few other things that weren't overly pricey. The $40 I spent for the boots would be $266 in today's dollars, so I guess they were a decent outlay for back then especially considering I was in college. I have to admit I've never thought of paying in the hundreds for articles of clothing, but I bet they would be nice to have.

Since I retired, I usually leave the house with a camera. So this past birthday I treated myself to a new Sony A7iii.
Probably be the last new camera I ever buy.
