Anyone have #138 June 2005 Excellence Mag?

I need an article from it quickly.
On replacing the door handle seals for a 968.
Article apparently says about 30 minutes each side.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever attempted to do. The 911 door handles were a piece of cake by comparison.
I spent from 7am till 8:30 today. And from about 3:30 till 8:30 just trying to reconnect the linkage. I forget how many hours I spent at on on Wednesday and Thursday...

:mad::mad:

anyone? Before I kick this door in?

I have a number of boxes of old Excellence. Was able to find April and May of 2005.
I will keep looking to see if I have the June issue.

Thanks Tobra, I've read that one. And the rest of them, multiple times. And the service manual section that covers this process. Reattaching the locking mechanism is a MAJOR Pita, even with the inner door panel off. It's absolutely maddening.

The service manual is lacking a lot of details. Such as how to twist and turn th handle to corkscrew it into the hole. It says the deflection lever is accessible through the forced air vent. Sure.. it is.. if you're 4 inches tall of have really tiny hands

Thanks. I'm hoping it goes into better detail than what I've found, perhaps with better pics.
I knew I shouldn't have gotten rid of mine when we moved back in 2013.

^^^ Ask and ye shall receive. The power of pelican is strong.

Thanks you so much. I had initially attempted to do it that way by forcing the seal over the rear of the handle, but I thought it was likely to tear. As I have the passenger door to do as well, I will use this method, for sure.

Well, back to trying to reconnect the lock rod, as of... now.

Time me. :confused::mad::p:eek:

Ahh, much better man, thanks!

Here's some video of my locking rod installation failures today. Time spent so far: 2 hours.
Filmed with a borecope.

"Just reach up there with long pliers," they say... a cruel joke if there ever was one.

Thank you Wolfe (now you have 968, great!), and Serene911.
Today I was able to replace seals on both doors in a matter of an hour (what otherwise would have ended up being a major undertaking, I love this comradery !!

(I lubed everything (seal, handle, door skin) with WD-40 to assist seal movement and inserted shop towel between handle and door to prevent scratches. I also used a plastic interior tool (yellow in photo) to pry the rear seal front end over the handle inner part to lessen my finger effort. Handle-to-door clearances were identical on both sides.)
