2019 Masters

It’s been a pretty good tournament so far. Eight of the top 10 starting this morning were previous major tournament winners. Lots of good golfers in a pretty tight pack at the top. The course is playing pretty easy because of some rain, even though the pin placements today were pretty damn tough. Lots of bad weather expected tomorrow, so they are teeing off early in the morning on both nine’s with three to a group. Might be one to watch.

Tigger is hanging in there....
Good for him. Was never a fan when he was young and arrogant.
His fall from grace, injuries and comeback has made him interesting and entertaining story.
I wish him luck for tomorrow.

My thoughts exactly, and he's got a shot at it tomorrow. Just 2 strokes to make up.

Depends if he had his fill of hookers and blow last night.

He may be a great golfer but a POS when it comes to character!

Tiger gets a little (well maybe a lot) and he’s forgiven, Trump supposedly gets a little and they want him dead.

Where is the moral equity there?

I don’t think he deserves that characterization.

Would love to see Tony Finau take it. Seems like a genuine guy and plays well at Augusta. Wind, early t-times today is going to make it interesting. Doesn't look like the scoring, so far, is anywhere near yesterday.

The final group certainly is interesting.

There are at least six or eight guys that could win this thing.

Sunday at the Masters is a must for me.

Quick Sea Story:

When we moved from California to South Carolina in the mid 70's, I did not know the Masters was a golf tournament - never heard of it. The guy who became my best buddy (still is) had family Masters tickets, six I think.

I went on a Friday in 1975. Jack, Arnie, Player, Trevino, we followed them all. I was hooked.

The gallery was a fraction of the size it is now so it was a much more tactile (nuke) experience.

Man, lots of birdies so far amongst the heavy hitters. A few eagles, too, and even a hole-in-one on 16. Birdies seem to be half price on hole number one. I think we might see some low scores today, if the winds don’t pick up early. Usually the pin placement on Sunday is a little easier than Saturday, and several players routed the course yesterday.

We live about 2 hours NE of Augusta and it started raining here about 30 mins ago. Looks dryin Augusta so far. Hopefully the weather will stay north.

Patrick Cantlay is making the best shots of anyone right now, after a great day yesterday. This is all going to come down to how hard the wind is going to blow and who can deal with it. Francesco has it dialed in right now!

Anyone but tiger.

If he were to win it would be non stop. Is tiger back. How many more majors will tiger win. Will he catch Jack. He won with his B+ game. On and on it will go. For years.

Can any of you golf-ey type guys explain to me what the proper etiquette of pin removal?
I watched most Friday and Saturday and it seemed at certain holes the player was putting with the pin still in the hole - sometimes from six inches sometimes from twelve feet.
Probably a simple answer, but over my pay grade.
Thanks in advance.

Most people take the pin out when putting, some don't, I wouldn't leave it in when I play.

I think Tiger has a very good chance there today, he is ready, he is good, and he has done it before. He doesn't get as flustered as some.

In the past, you took the pin out for any putts made from the putting surface. One of the recent PGA rule changes is that you can leave the pin in, if you want. The intent was to speed up play, not at tournaments like this, but for Joe Average, playing out in the sticks on his weekly round.

You were more likely to get a putt in if you take the pin out; that has been recently studied and proven in testing. Some players prefer to leave it in, regardless. Adam Scott is one such player and he had a fairly miserable day yesterday on the greens.

It's a new rule change. Player's option whether to pull it or leave it as a backboard. It had to be pulled before.
