Ding Ding Ding....we have a winner here, folks! This is my common practice each time I run my Bosch unit--make the water fill as HOT as possible.

Two types of dishwashers for both commercial and residential fitment. One sanitizes with hot water, the other utilizes chemicals.

Keeping the filter clean is also always a good idea.

Don't forget the pull-out filter at the bottom.
Label glue and various effluence will clog that puppy up.

A primed/clean pump is a happy pump!
(add an extra tall glass of piping hot water over the liquid detergent just to be sure, and make sure the first cycle is on 'fill'.)

Also remove the spinners and make sure they are also not clogged at the ends and the O-ring is still valid.

Also check and gently clean off those door seals once in a while.

Most dishwashers connect to the cold water line. So running hot water beforehand just wastes hot water. Look under the sink and check.

I would strongly disagree with this.
Most domestic dishwashers call for a minimum of 120 deg F for supply water.

My BOSCH dishwasher heats the water. But it uses electricity whereas my regular hot water is gas/solar. So yes, run the faucet to get the water hot first.

Not any I have owned

What ever detergent I am using dissolves my plates...and leaves a mess at the bottom of the dishwasher...

Being that dishwashers use very little volume of water, and running the hot water until the feed pipes are hot can use quite a lot... I expect that for most, that the price of electrically heating (at the dishwasher) is more efficient than running a much larger volume of gas-heated water. YMMV, but around here cheap hydro-E (at 8.53¢/kWh) is typically the same price as gas.

Also, by using self heating appliances the thermostat on the HW tank/heater can be turned down, giving even more power savings.
