What can you tell me about the 2005 MB E320

A friend passed away last September and left behind a 2005 MB E320. His wife doesn't want to keep it and asked me if i was interested. Has aprox. 50K miles. I know nothing about MB. What can you tell me about them?
Thanks!

If it has the M272 v6 it is in the range for balance shaft failure.
Also the intake manifold air handling flaps may break.
Check those out.

I have a 2000 e320 wagon with 245k on it.
incredible cars.
CHANGE THE TRANNY FLUID!!
MB tried to claim they had lifetime fluid in them and that is not the case. once you get a lot of miles on it and the tranny has not been taken care of about all you do is just drain it, change the filter and put back in what came out. you can NO LONGER flush it. if you do you will kill it.
yours has low enough miles you can flush it.
I have had conductor plate issues with my tranny only because it was neglected. have had to pull the pan off and clean the conductor plate a few times,.

my engine runs great. I have a bad(or going bad) O2 sensor so if it idles for a while it idles funny, I just give it gas it it idles normally. been that way for years.

I don't know about the later years.

2005 e320? Isn't that a CDI, aka diesel?

W211s also have the Servo Brakes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensotronic_Brake_Control, which are sorta stupid IMO. All in all, the W211s are much more complicated than the W210 models which they superseded.

I have a W210, and love it. I would really like to drive a W211 with the 320 CDI engine, which is a torque monster. I'd probably pass on a gasser.

I can't speak to the E320 specifically but friends had a 2005 E500 and it was a reliability nightmare.

That's what I thought also, but it is indeed a gasoline engine.
Thanks for all your replies. I think I'll pass on this one, don't need any more car problems if I can avoid them, and this seems like it could turn into one expensive nightmare.

Thank you all!
