Affordable car, amazing exhaust?

Just wondering about those cars who's exhaust is just amazing without the crazy price tag of an exotic.

I find a great exhaust note car make an otherwise MEH car so enjoyable.

Some that come to mind for me are:

VW R32
Corvette C6, C7, C4 LT5
Mustang 5.0 old and new, SN95 Cobra 32V
Camaro V8 1LE is pretty nasty
Abarth
Audi S4 B4

What are some others that you love.

With the right exhaust system. Cross over pipes do wonders for the overall sound.

Affordable exotic sound? I've heard some pretty gnarly Mustangs. Some Corvettes and Camaro's come in 2nd place.

Oh, and there's the 4 into 1 motorcycle note.

The big body Benz with the V12, same engine that was used in the early Zonda. Company out of Japan makes a glorious exhaust:

I hear Teslas sound great!

Not "any V-8" but certainly many. Aston Martins often sound pretty amazing. What does bug me is how just about every truck with a V-8 and aftermarket sounds like a Camaro or Mustang. Granted, most of them are just making lots of noise but not going anywhere fast.

I was pulling out of work the other day behind a Cayenne S. I am fairly certain that it must have had an aftermarket exhaust because it was LOUD, but it did sound very good. It had 4 large exhaust tips.

V-12s. Just about any V-12 sounds good if it's loud enough to hear.

What I kind of miss is old school, the sound of a well built V-8 with no cats and a good exhaust.

Carrera GT - obviously, not affordable, but had to mention it anyway.

Some of the straight 6 cars sound pretty phenomenal too.

Totally not affordable, but this reminds me that about any F-1 car from the 3 litre, pre-turbo days can make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The Matra V-12 sound went through your ears and straight to your spine. F-1 in 1970 - good times.

V8/V10 M3/M5s with the muffler bypass mod that takes out a pair of the perforated pipes and puts in solid ones. No drone, quiet at cruising, opens them up a bit when on it, too quiet stock. Neat firing order that's not quite run of the mill but not quite exotic either.

Agree on the almost all Astons, they are just tuned right.

I think there are some mods available to help, but the V8 in my Lexus LS430 hardly makes a sound, which is what it's supposed to do, but would be nice to flip a switch once in a while and let it loose.

I have a 2003 BMW M5 with a Dinan exhaust that I'm kind of fond of.

+1 on the BMW E92 M3 with the glorious S65 V8. Mine came with a loud aftermarket exhaust and sounded fantastic, but I knew I'd grow to hate it over time, so I found a stock muffler (which has a shape designed for aero benefits) and installed that. Although it is a tad on the quiet side as Mystic Llama notes, it still makes an incredible growl as it shreds to 8750rpm. At idle, it just purrs, but from behind it sounds like a Cigarette boat. It's also freakin gorgeous. Those glowing headers are the actual stainless mandrel-bent pieces on the car. Compare with the cheesy hydroformed tubes that were on my Caymans. Though you can barely see them on the engine while it's in the car, it's nice to know they are there.

I'm planning a 1940 Ford hotrod build, and fantasize about putting an S65 in it.

Best sounding? - Any Alfa Romeo from the 70s or 80s...

And the original V6 GTV is one of the best handling cars ever.

What killed these cars is build quality and rust.
