All Done !

Wow... this thread took a turn for the no so good didnt it?

Never meant for anyone to start throwing jabs over a silly project.

Either way... all done. The Key is fixed.

Oddly enough I was just looking for some insight and direction. You knuckleheads NEVER disappoint.

I got my questions answered, got insights and made some moves based on your feedback.

WHAMMO. Easy resolution to the project.

7.00 for the casing
20.00 for the solder.

BAM.... Brand New Key.

(And yes, I know I could have gone to the dealership and got a new key, yes I know its part of ownership.

Your dealership way was 300.00, My way was $27.

....I like my way better, you like your way better. We both win.

The main button on the key for the Boxster's fob eventually breaks. I can get a new key from Porsche for a couple hundred bucks, and then pay to have that new key programmed for the car. I can order just the buttons from SuncoastPorsche for $60.

Or, I can order a new Chinese knock-off key without the electronic guts for $15-20. Then I pull just the broken button out of that fob and put it in the original fob (and still have spare key blanks and more spare buttons.

I go with the cost effective route as well.
