As long as they match your gold chain, they are good for the street.

The fingerless gloves go well with the gold chain, Drakkar Noir, and this jacket...

I also used the gloves as a display piece. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3c89ffec3e.jpg

I think those make a cool display.

I've never worn gloves of any type even while doing manual labor, save masonry and hot work. About 15 years ago I received a pair of Porsche driving gloves same as in the photo. I was very impressed with the grip and feel of the steering wheel. I'll wear them in cool weather, but only in my 911.

I always wear gloves when welding or cutting steel, or driving the tractor or loading it onto the trailer and moving it. You might call them "driving gloves" in the sense that I'm operating heavy equipment. I wear gloves when operating the chain saws, or chaining down stuff on the trailer. There's always this risk of getting burned or cut. And then when you're freezing your ass off driving along the coast, or in an open wheel buggy, they make sense to me to wear them. Same thing with nitrile gloves when working with greasy parts. And when transporting and loading straw, it takes once getting stabbed with straw under the fingernail, and then you wear gloves every time.

My response from a couple years ago still replies.

Mine are red, so that when everybody comes up behind me, they see my signal to pass. My left glove is just about worn out from signaling. 😂

Edit: I had a 1975 triumph TR6 and can remember driving in the winter, with no top and no heat. I used a pair of down mittens, it was so cold.

I like driving my manual cars with bare hands and bare feet. I feel more connected. Pretty easy to do since I live in flip flops all year

Got myself a pair of stringback leather driving gloves from autodromo.com many years ago. I only wear them when driving the Porsches. Why? As others have said, it sets the mood for the occasion, but also has the benefits of far better grip and less damage to the leather by my sweaty oily palms.

A few people have offered their negative unsolicited opinions over the years. You know, *******s.

I have to use gloves on the track. My hands sweat to the point it's dangerous. Occasionally I will wear them on the street during spirited drives, but hide them from others. lol
Yes the glove material should match the wheel for best grip.

Gloves are part of the fire proof clothing, can't pass tech without proper safety gear.

I don’t but would now just to be that guy. A friend of mine picked me up to do an 8 hour ride to Hershey. Got in his BMW wagon and he was wearing gloves. I thought this guy is a real long distance specialist. He then raised the bar by getting out a cutting board with cheeses and various meats about 4 hours in. Anyhow, I got no problem with them.

Mechanics Wear leather gloves in the winter. I don't have a heated steering wheel.
I think they discontinued the gloves that I loved.
The new model isn't the same.

I think a wood on plastic wheel (smooth) would be paired with smooth leather (vs suede). Smooth leather provides grip on a smooth surface.

Suede provides grip on suede, presumably because they mesh kind of like velco.

Suede gloves on a smooth (leather, wood, plastic/bakelite) would be like wearing wool gloves and trying to hold something smooth or wearing socks on hardwood floors.

I've thought about wearing driving gloves (probably never will, as I hate gloves for anything). My reason would be for the vehicle's steering wheel. I seem to have a high acid content or something in my hands--I really don't know--but over time, the leather (or whatever material) on my steering wheels start to deteriorate where I hold them. I clean and protect the interior frequently, so it's not just normal Arizona sun killing it--I just think there's something weird with my pH.

I don't lose it very often, but when I do, it's when my wife puts on hand cream before driving the 911. Kills the leather.

Alcantara hates sweat for sure.

When on track I've used my fire retardant gloves that help with grip and avoiding blisters from wear, but never just out on the road. I've thought about it before but never tried it.

I think if I had a Lotus, or even a Caterham I'd be looking under every stone and hedge for a pair of these vintage JC gloves - they even have a JC logo stitched into the back.

Tres´cool, no?
