Shootout at San Ysidro Border Crossing
 

I don't think this was news outside of San Diego. I heard nothing about this until yesterday, and it happened 3-4 days ago. Young fancied himself a "coyote" and was trying to bring two Chinese nationals into the country. Was challenged at the border, tried to bolt into the US and started shooting when he wrecked the car.

Anyone else hear about this?

It was a little story but quickly buried because there are no problems on our border.

^^^^ I tune out most media, but there's been no shortage of border new$ for years now. Back when the "inva$ion" force was much larger....just doing....

I'm surprised that it hasn't gotten more play in the news but the story itself is nothing new. Human smuggling has been going on there since Jesus was in short pants. Shoot-outs are probably rare but the only casualty was someone who truly doesn't matter so therefore, NBD.

I should say that shoot-outs at the crossing are rare but near the border, they are fairly common as well as vehicle chases w smugglers resulting in many more casualties. The southern border, not just for Mexicans anymore. :(

Sad but his mother confirmed he was recently diagnosed with bi-polar and had been suffering from depression for years.

Looking at the video he got out of the car and was laying on the ground when he was shot. (next to the concrete guard rail on the left)
If I had to guess, "suicide by border guard".

Crap situation for everyone. :(
