It was an intervention...

He's got no time to just sit there and watch it pass him by, even at just three or four years old. I really envied the young man. Somewhere along the way, our enthusiasm and wonder seems to diminish a bit.

I find myself, in my retirement, doing my best to recapture some of that. I feel like I'm actually doing a pretty good job of it. Even if I had a stroller big enough to fit me, and someone willing to push it, there is no way on Earth I would confine myself to one. Not just yet. That day, as many of you have pointed out, will get here soon enough. For now, however, "I can walk by myself", to quote my new little hero.

As an aside (and one elicited by one of our frequent contributor's anonymous reaction to this thread), I'll never understand those who seem to have allowed the hardships, disappointments, and heartbreaks of life fester into bitterness and resentment. Take old "Mr. One Star" himself, poor, bitter old Georgie, who took the time out of his morning to swing by and register his signature one star retort. My success and happiness have proven to be, as evidenced by his many deeply personal attacks levied against me, to be some sort of an unshakable point of resentment and bitterness for him. I cannot believe how deeply inside his head I've managed to burrow, with, in retrospect, so little effort on my part. Me just being me, and relating stories and experiences garnered after I got up out of my stroller.

Oh well, enough of that. Life is too short. That next stroller ride is looming, and I still have far too much I want to do before I land in it once again. Others can sit there and stew, convincing themselves they have "prevailed" in some way, through a silly little star on a silly little forum...

That wasn't me kid, now get back in your stroller and suck on your pacifier.

Your paranoid delusions aside, what was your biggest mistake?

I bet it's huge just like your liver.

Jeff...you didn’t tell the lad the rest of the story. You traded that stroller for a Road King. Life could be worse!

Hah! I love it. Yes, life could be worse... the ultimate big kids' "stroller". Of course, queuing the obligatory Harley joke, too bad it doesn't have handles on the back so someone can push me... ;)

Actually it’s quite easy to block people’s posts.

Go to the hyperlink Pelican Parts Forums above ( you cannot do it from a thread) and select User CP ( control panel) in the left window. When in CP select under SETTINGS AND OPTIONS, Edit Ignore list. Just add the perp there.

The unfortunate thing is that if someone quotes Tabs or whom ever the quote will not be blocked. But as my Irish bus driver said today, What the farkle was the arse bite thinkin? Next time I’ll just run the blighter into the pavement. Got to love the Irish.

There is no need to ignore anyone on this, or any other forum. What fun is that? Besides, tabby can actually be quite insightful, and often adds measurably to the conversation. His style may not be for everyone but, even at his most pompous, he is nothing if not entertaining. He is definitely a check mark in the "plus" column on this forum. We would be diminished without him.

In sharp contrast, of course, we have the sort whom tabby relishes pushing down the stairs. The ones who offer nothing worthwhile, nothing insightful - the ones who have been unable to earn this community's respect. The ones who really should have stayed in their strollers. The ones whose participation detracts measurably from this forum, the ones whom no one would miss if they disappeared tomorrow, the ones who check the "minus" side of the ledger. Guys like poor Georgie who, try as he might, will never induce me to putting him on "ignore'. It's just too fascinating to watch him auger in time after time, in conversation after conversation, with virtually everyone whom he engages. It's oddly fascinating, like watching the same slow motion train wreck over and over again. Never anything new, granted, with the entirely predictable outcome of him making a fool and an ass of himself with boring consistency. And if, at first glance, it proves to be more of the same, too boring and consistent, one can simply skim through it. Every now and then, though, he will outdo himself and provide a real nugget, such a gem of a failure, that one won't want to miss it. It's such moments that can make suffering through his mountains of inane, misunderstood, misrepresented, ignorant Google knowledge almost worthwhile. Who would want to ignore such entertainment? It's almost as good as watching tabby push him down the stairs.

Just visited him the other day. Was only there a short while.

Tabs, I’ve known you on this board for almost 20 years now, and for almost 20 years I’ve heard from you that the sky was falling and we were all doomed. Well guess what, I am willing to bet that, despite all your enlightenment, it will take another 20 years for your predictions to come to fruition!
