Good coverage. I would like a few minutes of no commentary an listen to cars.

My post above. Try #8 onboard. Not bad. Race leader also.

Did Patrick Long find a ride after Tracy Krohn destroyed the car?

Funny.

Yea they were channeling the first Sky TV F1 broadcast. The car noise and background noise was loud, and the interviews were whispers.
It is nice to see so much coverage.

Overall good show so far. My DVR is working hard.

Toyota has a easy lock on the win with no competition. The P1 class racing is boring except for third on back. Toyota is only racing between themselves.

Get class is a real race!

Not a good day for Porsche today.

peppy 06-16-2019 05:15 AM

I enjoyed the race. First time I have had TV coverage for the entire 24 hours. My wife is not so thrilled, I had the TV on all night.

Good race, too many classes now though hard to follow.

Not competing in the top two classes meant it wasn't a good day from the get go for me. :(

Race still had good stories outside of Porsche.

Would have liked the 7 to win versus the 8, oh well that’s racing.

Keating tried hard to lose the race in GTE Am.

I went with this...ran out of energy at 1:30 AM here...went to bed...then up again at 4:30 to watch the finish. In car footage was fun.

Still marvel at the concentration on the driver's part for a race that long...one little slip up because of brain fade can be very costly.

Can only imagine being a kid that is into racing and having this kind of coverage available. I can remember having to wait weeks for the magazine coverage.
I recorded it but wimped out on waking up early for the ending.
When will the race become something the big Mfg's will want to win again for the prestige?

Me too..would read every word in the R&T race reports...everything seemed so exciting & glamorous...both F-1 and endurance racing. The exotic track names, the locations, etc. But somehow my imagination made it more exciting than the reality...

Yes, the written word let me imagine what it must have been like, streaking down the Mulsanne (sp?) straight, at night, in the pitch dark. Now, it's not nearly as glamorous.

GH85Carrera 06-16-2019 03:14 PM

I finished watching the coverage at 4:30 PM. So about 12 hours after it finished.

It is cool that Alonzo is the first person to get a FIA championship in F1 and WEC.

I think the LMP1 rules change in 2021 to align more with current HyperCars will bring the big boys back. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has already committed for that race, and I’d be shocked if Porsche and few others don’t join the fray.

Theatre of the mind is dying in the modern age. Everything has become better, but there's a price to pay.

(And nothing highlights how far LED lighting has come than a 24 hour race. The cars, the track, the pits all look like a colorful circus midway)

I did the same thing. I slept on the couch with the live stream running so I could listen and watch as I went in and out of sleep just like I used to do when you could get almost all the coverage on tv.

Porsche finished 2nd and 3rd in GTPRO and 2nd in GTAM so not a bad effort . Sure everyone comes to win but they have nothing to be ashamed about . I enjoyed the race but didn't care for the announcers . The Tom Christianson technical analysis was good but he seemed a little wooden in his delivery .

It will be interesting to see if hydrogen hyper cars start being the face of sports car racing . I think for now Porsche is committed to Formula E and happy to continue to develop and support the 911 efforts around the world . But being a major player in the performance arena I could see them being lured back to an LMP1 type effort .
