Great cars that are underrated or over shadowed?

I was just thinking about some cars that I think are underrated or overshadowed and wondered what others have on that list?

C4 ZR1 and LT4 I think these are very handsome and both have great engines in very different ways.

300ZX such cool cars, that performed very well and have aged very well.

Porsche 944S2, I think these were a bit overshadowed by the Turbo, and only lately have begun to get the due they deserve, along with 944's in general.

If I knew about it, it wouldn't qualify.

I would say first gen Mazda Miata, first gen Porsche Boxster.

Both great cars but some folks will make jokes about them being girly cars.

My other observation, the C5 Z06 is a stripped C5 with brake cooling ducts, brake upgrade, and cam upgrade.

People tend to look to the C5 Z06 and ignore the C5 Coupe.

The C5 Coupe was intended to be the top premium model.

What became the C5 Z06 was the lowest cost version of the C5.

Now the Z06 that is a hotshot and something truly special is the C6 Z06.

It has special lighter frame, dry sump engine, a serious exotic package over the standard C6.

in comparison the C5 Z06 is a less expensive to manufacture body, with upgrades that are not overly expensive bolt ons.

Early Ford escorts. Most have been crashed by now, but if you can find one it will be even more of a collectable in the future. Especially a RS Mexico.

Edit: Not that they had good or powerful engines, it was that they weighed so little 767 kg/1690 lb.

1973/74 Capri. For the day, there was nothing to touch it, until this: 1977 BMW 320i.

Next?

1999/2000 Ford Focus...for the time, a really neat little car.

I had an '87 pickup, long bed with the 2.6L engine, 5 speed stick that was bulletproof. Always wished I had picked up a Montero or Dodge Raider, great little off road vehicles...

1980 Ford Fairmount.

This one's perhaps modified. Posted before but check 55 seconds in for just a little second.

I had a 73 v6 Capri. It was nice. Should have stuck with the car I traded in which is my suggested underrated car.

1971 Datsun 510. I put minilite wheels, radials, konis, headers, and reworked carb on it. It was rock solid reliable and a ton of fun. It would smoke a BMW 2002.

I also had a Capri with the v6 and manual transmission , car was red with black interior . One of the few cars I regret letting go .

The Capri is a hidden gem.

The 68-73 Opel GT is another one IMO.

Mazda Rx-7 was a lot car for the money
Prior to the well setup 944 I had an Rx-7 GSL-SE
Fast as hell, but suffered from a solid rear axle

Saab sonnet. Love those. I’ve only seen one in person at a car show about 15 years ago. There was a nice one on BAT not too long ago.
