I second that motion. There is no such thing a comfortable race suspension.

Uh, your car already has race capable suspension. What do you want race suspension for? You do realize that you can lower your car without changing any of the suspension components don't you? This isn't like a Honda where you have to change the parts to lower the car. Are you going to be club racing this car, street driving, Auto Xing, what do you want to do with the car?

You can go with Bilstein sports if you want a firmer ride, you can change torsion bars, you can change to larger sway bars or go with thru the body adjustable bars, you can go to firmer bushings, uniball mounts, and bearings inplace of some bushings, you can spend time with a cutting torch and a welder and cut out the some of the front and rear suspension and go with a 935 suspension with coil overs.

Guys, guys! It's Monday, DMX is obviously new to the board and just needs some help with the terminology. DMX first give us some more info, such as are you lowering the 911 lower than Euro specs and need a firmer ride to keep from bottoming out? Is you suspension shot or do you just need some new shocks? What will be you main type of driving, highway, urban pothole dodging, track?

Do a search under "suspension" on this board. Why do you need to change the suspension?

I know I can lower my car the way it is... But what I am looking for is coil overs or something... when a 911 is lowered the ride sucks... it's too harsh.... I know there are aftermarket coil over shocks that replace my struts..... But I am having a hard time finding them.... I know for a fact when these are put opn my car the ride is very comfortable... feels like a new car.....

Huh???? Lowering a 911 by way of adjusting the torsion bars has no effect on the ride as it pertains to hard or soft. Aftermarket coil overs would seem over kill for a street '75 911 not to mention costing more than your car is probably worth.

Actually I really doubt it costs more then my car is worth...
I have a 3.3 Turbo engine in it..... and second of all when you lower your car with the torsion bars their is a huge difference in the ride... you feel every bump... This is my fifth 911 and I have lowered many of them..... with the coil overs their is a significant difference I have driven one at the swap meet.... The ride is very comfortable.. and it doesn't drive like any other older 911...

If you change to coilovers you need to reinforce the strut/shock towers. They are not made to handle the suspension of the vehicles weight as well as the pounding it will take from the suspension. This is normally absorbed by other areas.

Body motion, www.bodymotion.com, will convert the rear of your car to coilovers for about $1500. They do it as part of the 915 --> G50 conversion process.

LEDA, they make coilovers for Porsches. I did a search on Yahoo for "911 coil overs". The fifth link down is to a vendor that sells LEDA coilovers for Porsches including 911's.

Agreed dhoward, Troll.
