Ford prepares to eliminate any remaining joy from driving.

This has got to be one of the most heinous idea ever hatched.

Automakers luv to build patent portfolios as it is how they negotiate to get access to what they want from other manufacturers.

Don't expect something like this to be exclusive to Ford, if anyone wants it, they will trade for it.

What would the Ford computer recommend if it overheard me say " I hate this Ford and want to go buy a Toyota"????

Edit, now I want to go test drive one and find out.

I can see it now. "your payment is $500/mo, or $550/mo without ads."

They are programmable for multiple messages. My first saved one would be..."Nice Move A-Hole"
I've always wanted one (in fantasy land, not in real life) that said. I'd need it to be 3 lines with a pause on each line and would want it to repeat a time or two.

Slower traffic keep right.
That means you!
Right's that way -->

Another "communications device" that would be great would be something in the front of the car that launched bottle rockets after hitting a button on the dash. I suspect a loud whistle and bang would likely get folks to get out of the way.

On a vaguely related note. I remember when Leland Pate transitioned to a new position/job while he was in the military that required him to go through an in-depth security clearance review. He was a member of the SCWDP for those of you that remember. In his top secret security interview, they asked him about his "membership in the SC World Domination Plot" and what the SCWPD was. Now us Steve's will probably be cancelled at some point in the future because of these posts.

Wouldn't that be considered an invasion of privacy?

Only if you don't sign or initial or click accept on some sheet with fine print or some EULA. I can imagine, you buy a car and have to click accept the first time you turn on the radio, and that "accept" authorizes them to listen to your conversations inside the car, monitor what radio stations, music, or streaming you do, etc....

And you sign so much crap when you buy a car...

And folks are so used to clicking "OK" or "accept" when they start up some new electronic gear or launch some app, 99.99% of the time without a split second to even register what they are agreeing to.

I sold my 78SC last summer... Your post reminds me, I forgot to include the Badge.
I'll get it to the new owner.

Now get off my lawn!

Please please please do this.
The lawsuit from me hitting something and saying the advert distracted me will be epic.
