someone lit my short fuse!
!@#$!@#$!@#%!@!!!
i need reading glasses. despite the latest/greatest prescription pair; i still get documents and plan sheets with the finest print. i hate reaching for magnifying glasses. but i brought my stepdad's (RIP) set from home and put them at work. you never know when you need to cook some ants in the sunlight anyways. :) first a while back someone borrowed them and snapped the handle off. grrr..but they still work fine. now? today? someone took them and i cant find them. taking stuff out of my office - off my desk is unacceptable. it does NOT help that i fasted for blood work this morning, and i haven't eaten yet today. hehe..the poor guy that brings them back. :D (they should probably just slide them under my door and run) |

what really bums me out.
i used to rib my Stepdad that he needed the mag-glass. it was fun and he took it in great spirit. it took decades for us to convince him to get reading specs. now when i use the mag-glass; every single time, i think about him. i am going to be really sad about it, if they are lost. |
I was putting sanding sealer on my front door yesterday, and the instructions on the can were in so comically small print I couldn't read them even with two pairs of reading glasses. Gave up and looked them up online.
I've learned over the years that reading instructions on things often yields surprisingly positive results. |
Yup. I put 2 pairs on for fine type. Never tried 3 pairs though. Maybe that is the trick?

Full natural sunlight helps in reading fine print.
Morning light even better. Our eyes evolved under real sunlight. |
Flatbutt II used to just grab whatever I was struggling to read and move it further and further away saying "now?" with each step.
|
that's really messed up that folks take your stuff off of your desk without asking. Hopefully, you get them back.

I have this old innuit seamstress who reads the fine print on stuff for me. Saves $$ on glasses.

Macro lenses on the DSLR.

Actually, that one time when I had an iPhone, it was the reason I had to get reading glasses. I used to be able to read the S/N, etc, tiny print on the phones... I use 1.0 for computer work and 1.5 for reading. I also have a small stack of 4.0 reading glasses (mistake purchase) that I use for really fine print. SmileWavy |

instructions as follows, but if you follow the ^ link ^, there's even pictures. Quote:

Steve, the issue was the writing ON the iPhone. I needed the S/N to get it fixed...

I keep 4 different strengths on my workbench. I can read the finest print with the 3.0 I think 4.0 would make me dizzy. First time I put on 125 reading glassed to read my tape measure down to a 16th I was blown away about how the straight board now looked like a surfboard. It's taken 20 years to not notice.

OTOH, if it doesn't work, they can always say, "Well, if you'd followed the (illegible) instructions it would have worked great," on a product that sucked. |
Go to your optometrist and get new glasses. It's like buying a new mobile phone or computer. You don't see the need until you have the new one, and then it's totally worth it. It sounds as if you need one pair for reading, and another for seeing far away.
Then, set up game camera to catch the offender. Build a trebuchet and launch a pound of dog poo at his door. |
I do hope you find your magnifier.
These are great for fine work, like soldering/electronics and splinter removal. I think wayne recommended them a few years ago: https://smile.amazon.com/Magnifier-Magnifying-Professional-Headband-Handsfree/dp/B071VZ4X6P?ref_=Oct_TopRatedC_2236129011_3&pf_rd_p =475efd57-109d-5616-903d-05a9db8847cb&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=2236129011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX 0DER&pf_rd_r=Z584KMM0YJ5C2D5MCXGW&pf_rd_r=Z584KMM0 YJ5C2D5MCXGW&pf_rd_p=475efd57-109d-5616-903d-05a9db8847cb I also use the flashlight on my phone alot, and magnifier app. Most annoying are menus in a dark restaurant. Hard to read small fonts. My son doesn't understand why I don't like to read plans and contracts on my phone. Big monitor in the office. He'll get it some day. |
