I can't believe the BS questions the US coach is getting about the score. Scoring early sets your players up to do well, and it's not a coach's job to make the other team feel good, it's the other coaches job to stop them.

Maybe no one should win, just give everyone participation trophies🙄

I enjoy watching the women far more than the men. They play with as much skill and less fake injury time.

I've been enjoying the tournament with my soccer obsessed ten year old daughter. It's been great for her to see the skill level these women have. We've enjoyed the time together watching and talking about what is going on out on the field.

I was appalled at the news coverage on TV when I was in a waiting room today.

I just had to walk out.

Seriously, this the WORLD CUP SOCCER TOURNAMENT.

I seriously hope this is just a US media thing and is not worldwide.

I'm ashamed of US sports coverage for implying that a team in WORLD CUP SOCCER should just...what, stand there? Play self possession, allow the other team to score?

The celebration was unnecessary but the scoring was not. Had they held back at say 6 or 7 goals, Sweden now has the benefit of an artificially low target when they play Thailand. Goals scored during group play is the tie breaker if US and SWE tie in their game.

Every single goal is important to the players, and the fans of the scoring team.

No reason not to celebrate.

It is part of the game.

Highlights of games do not exclude the celebration after a goal, they know people want to see it.

Personally I am not the celebratory type, but I recognize that for others it is important.

I believe 13-0 is FIFA record breaking, so something to celebrate seems warranted.

The coverage did include "running up the score", as a phrase being used. I considered it a terrible angle to look at it.
