Thailand is done. Now for Hong Kong!
Many of you gave great information for my son's trip to Thailand. He got home on Sunday and now we are planning for his next school trip: Study abroad in Hong Kong. He will be studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong for 6 weeks. Any advice? Must see places? Must eat places? TIA.

Stanley Market is a must do. And ride the Star ferry across HK harbor at night! Unforgettable.
Oh and send along cash! Lots of cash!!!

Street food or those little, tiny eateries. I was there twenty five years ago bumming around Asia. HK is one of my favorite places to visit. Going again in 3 weeks with kids this time around. People tell me the street foods are slowing going away because younger generation don't want to run them.
We are spending a couple days in an old fishing village just to get away from crowds but that's my not be what a young man wants. Lan Kwi Fong is where the expats go and it doesn't close, not really. I am sure he will find his say there. Go up to Victoria Peak. Take the Tram, its a pretty amazing view. There's are n't too many places like the peak around the world |

I liked the shops with all the new electronics. Food was great at most places. I was visited a couple times in the early 1990's. I'm sure it's changed a ton.

My son is in Hong Kong now (actually Shen Zhen). Biggest surprise for him is the wealth. Lots of Ferrari’s and Maserati’s running around. Amazing sky scrapers, etc. He’s there for a study abroad program as well. Two weeks in, it’s starting to sound like he’s had enough though. Two more weeks to go.

My son will spend 5 weeks in Hong Kong and a week in Beijing. Classes are Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. I have told him to take advantage of being there. Tokyo is a 5-hour flight and about $200 so I told him, he could do that for a weekend if he wanted.
He has been learning Mandarin for almost 10 years. He is hoping to practice a little while he is there so a side trip into Shen Zhen would be a benefit. I am very excited for him.

One block from Nathan Street. Probably the best (inexpensive) food in Hong Kong.

Yeah, where is Motion. My concern is he had the feeling that he needed to really understand Syria, and the best way to understand it is to ride a motorbike through it. Syria, Iran... Same difference.

It's been a week. He has started classes (traditional Chinese medicine and an engineering and entrepreneur class) and made some friends. Pictures sent this morning were of lunch:
