The AH Sprite has to be in the list, but probably there are some limited production cars that will take the cake.

the Lotus came up to my thighs and I could lift either end clear of the gound by myself. quite small. also drove Triumph Spitfires, Fiat X19 and Spyder, MGB and Midgets, Opel GT, but they had to be heavier and taller than a 70's Lotus. that car was so small, you had to go around a beer can or bottle or feel it slam on the floorboard. had to open the door and get it rolling by pushing the road with my hand when our oystershell/concrete streets got wet. not enough weight to keep the tires from spinning in the rain

I saw in Grassroots Motorsports where they have a Berkley (sp) from the 50's-60's? That thing is crazy small.

Lotus 23?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_23 Not sure of the weight but 1100 lbs comes to mind. The Honda s800 cars were pretty small also but probably still larger than the Lotus.

Ginetta used to be a production car. Now it's more of a kit car with Miata underpinnings.
![]() Fast as hell, too. http://www.ginettacars.com/index.html The neighbor across the street has a Deutsch-Bonnet like this: ![]() It has a 2-cylinder air-cooled engine. Sounds like a Yamaha RZ-350. It raced at Le Mans in the late 1950s. http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z11701/Deutsch-Bonnet-Le-Mans-Racer.aspx

Toyota 2000 GT? How to determine small? Curb weight? Length? Width? Height?

I am a sucker for small sports cars.
I loved the Lotus Europa and Elise when I was a pup. I covet original Austin mini Coopers. The Lotus 23 is my all time favorite Sports Racer followed closely by the Porsche 908/3. I have owned and loved three 914's. And the #1 car I would sell of my Carrera for is the Lotus Exige. So, yep, IMO Sports cars should be light & small. Mike |

not really a "sport" car, but I saw an old KING micro car at Cruisin the Coast in Miss. weekend before last. got to be the smallest or one of the smallest street legal cars ever made. I remember them being sold thru Sears catalogs. I believe it might even fit in my trunk. for sure in my f350.. I knew someone with a Sunbeam convertible long ago. that's smaller than a Midget I think and actually a sports car.

couldn't find length and width, but the Toyota GT coupe was 45" high at the roofline.

pwd72s:
Toyota had a number of vintage cars on display at the LBGP a year ago. Among them was a 2000 GT. It was positively tiny. I had never seen one in person before and was impressed by its diminutive stature. Mike |

Quote:
I think this should be restricted to street cars...race cars could include the old sports racing classes. Today's lotus cars are absolute porkers compared to the Toyota 2000GT.
