Checking dwell with fluke 79?

Cant find my 30 year old dwell meter, and the 914 needs new points.
Been reading that my fluke can read duty cycle, and somehow that can be converted to dwell angle.
Read up a little bit on it but am more confused then ever.
Can anybody explain how to in simple terms that I might understand?

Dwell is 'on' time - measured in degrees relative to number of cylinders firing degrees. V- 8 you should see 30 degrees of points dwell ( optimum )

If I remember correctly, point dwell degree numbers climb ( optimal ) VS # of cyls decreasing.

You refer to your veh manual or other good source for 4cyl dwell spec. Then research your Fluke for reading that. The red lead will attach to the primary point side of ignition coil, the other to good engine ground

Thanks guys, found a few online for sale but nothing I can pick up on the way home tonight.
Was hoping not to buy another meter, and that I can use what I already have.
I know as soon as I buy another one I will find the old one.
I JUST used it about a month ago on the mustang.
Spent 15 minutes working on the 914 last night, and about an hour looking for that dang meter.
