Vets - Did you know you get 10% off everything at Lowes?

Just figured this out recently when a cashier asked if I was a veteran. Showed her my DL with "Veteran" designation. Now I just give my phone number and get 10% off all purchases.

To quote a line from 'Full Metal Jacket': "Did your parents have any children that lived?"

So, yes.

Used mine on Sunday. Found out you can't use the self checkout and get the discount. At least that's what they told me at the Lowes near me. Home Depot has the same discount.

You can go online and apply for a Lowe's Veteran's discount card. Scan your items, scan the card and it deducts 10%.

Home Depot discounts for active duty/retired if you still have a military I.D. I have the Lowe's card but still go to HD unless it's a big purchase.

Thanks for this info, guys!

I ended up going to Lowes customer service desk and they entered me into the system after I showed them my retired ID card. I'm supposed to get something in the mail. Lowes is new (about a year) here, this was only the second time I been into the store. I appreciate both Lowes and HD having the program.

Just found out that for online orders with in store pick up, they'll apply the discount at pick up, but it cannot be applied at the time of order.

I got out of the Army in 1966 and don't know if I can get some kind of discount card. I could give them my service number as companies like USAA that run the number (or name ?) to verify. I didn't know about the discount & would like to get it since I buy a decent amount from H.D. & sometimes Lowes.

ID is free, just takes patience. Took about 8 weeks for mine. I sent an email after it appeared my app was stalled & I received it a week later.

This.. you can apply for the MyLowes veterans discount card on-line. Took a couple of weeks to get the card. Just scan it with your items and it automatically deducts the 10%.

Been getting the discount for years. I didn't realize that so many vets do not know what is available. Home Depot has the same discount.

I'm suprised they don't make this widely known....best PR for 10% than anything....jmho.

I gotta run up the street to get my pup another round of dawgy-meds now....I'm gonna tell the Doc :)!

When I rebuilt our front bathroom I used the "contractors" desk, got their price and then the 10% discount also! I was told the contractors desk is for large purchases, not a can of paint, or other small stuff.

Other places giving the discount are IHOP, Denny's, Home Depot, Harbor Freight (in addition to their coupons they told me) so it pays to ask.

Our local Home Depot used to limit their Vet discount to Retired, Active and disabled. Now, for the last year they have been discounting all vets.

Lots of places offer a discount to mil and veterans. Here's a link to a pretty decent list, it never hurts to ask.

There is an organization with a database that they (Lowes) will run you through when you apply. Once you have the discount, all you need is your phone number and they look you up at he register. I do it all the time...and have no idea where my card is.

I like to eat at IHOP now and then because they also have a good discount menu for seniors...and on Wednesdays, the entire menu is half price for seniors here.
