There was a whole magazine, probably in the 1970's, about dealing with cigarette smoke. They created all of these different ways to suck in and then filter the smoke. Pretty sure it was Al Jaffee.

Started with giant fans sucking it to the ceiling or floor, with toupee's flying upwards or panty hose being sucked to the ground. Then glasses and pendents doing the filtration.

Always loved spy vs. spy

Don Martin: The guys starts singing "singing in the rain" and it turns out to the be international spitting contest at the top of a building.

Sad, good art and funny parodies, will be missed

As a kid growing up around the world, it was amazing to see the distribution. Many people who only lived in the US did not realize the global following for MAD magazine.

Spy vs Spy and Don Martin were my favs.

I never creased the "fold-in".

Glad I am not alone.

I creased those fold-ins square and tight because I was always amazed at how clever they often were and I wanted to study them carefully to see how precise they were.

I creased em.

My dad even put up with me decorating his car with material provided by MAD.

LOL. I carefully curved them so I could see it, without creasing. I suppose today there would be an app for that.

When I went with my mom to the Co-op grocery store, I used to go to the back corner where the magazine stand was, sit down, and read MAD while she shopped. That had to be from around 1965 to 1968 when we moved (I was 12).

Great looking station wagon. Look at those tail lights! The entire rear of the car is so clean. And look how big that back window is. I don't think anyone realized back then how our automobile styling would go down the toilet as we moved into the 90's and 2000's.

Sorry for the thread detour...couldn't help myself. ;)

They sold a book called "Mad Guide to Fraud and Deception. . and other accepted business practices". https://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/0446941549

My dad was in newspaper advertising his whole career and as kids we connected by laughing at advertising we saw or stories he told that all bordered on deception examples used in the book. We referenced the jokes in that book many times over the years.

Great childhood MAD memories, still have favorite issues stored. I bought this Don Martin book in early 70's and recently shared with kids. Now they are hooked.
