Rotary phase converters?
I'm in the market for a rotary phase converter, and transformer. Wanting to go from 240v single to 480v 3 phase. Just for an alternative energy means instead of my current diesel genset.
Has anyone worked with North America phase converter co., or American rotary? I've called both and they both sized it right compared to what I've researched online. North America seemed to be more friendly in the tech department/customer service with a good 1/2 hour just talking shop. The price difference is negligible on the converter. Transformer prices are comparable as well. They will be going to my well. I have poured small 4 inch slab in preparation. I'll build a small dog house to the set up. Anyone recommend a company, and/or general advice.

why not a box type phase and volt converter for 220v to 480 -3 v ?
or just get a 480 p3 line in ? I thought the new box type are way cheaper then the motor/generator rotary units and use less power in the conversion ? esp for smaller 1-2-3 hp units how many amps / hp is your pump ? |

Pump is 3 HP, 30 amp locked. I'm wanting to switch from my 480v 3 phase genset to a 120/240 genset I have on hand so I can use it for some residential power as well. No utilities are availible, however, a private out of state company is putting in 30 wind turbines a few miles down the road to connect to the grid. So alternative means are a possibility, and I like to have the option should I change my mind in the next few years. I know I will buy a new 30kw genset next year just to have the flexibility that my current genie does not..
