Over the top action, The Rock, J Statham - Hobbs and Shaw
 

If you like over the top, suspension of disbelief, butt kicking movies, I think you'll like this.

If you like to complain about "no body could take a beating like that in real life" or "they could never do that in real life", then maybe you won't.

I have to say, I do think that the Rock has 2 strengths action and comedy which to me, makes him VERY entertaining. Jason Statham is also decent at the whole martial arts, ass-kicking, action movie thing and is fairly entertaining.

I think this movie is going to be a lot of fun. I like how they took it to Hawaii and recruited a Samoan ass kicking fest.

Certainly over the top and it will make Billions!

Between those two trailers, i think you've seen the whole movie.

Looks like a fun movie. I've been an Idris Elba fan since I saw him in Promethius.

These movies are like cartoons or video games. The stunts are just stupid.

Pretty much. No need to spend $$ on this one now.

He's the best. I'd say that he made "The Wire" and vice versa but it was so full of great actors that he was simply an essential part of it. I've had the pleasure of dining w the producers of the Bond franchise and picking their brains about the next James Bond, he's very high on the list and would be fantastic, IMO. I told them so, FWIWW, (.02). :)

Yeah, not a fan of those over the top impossible 15 minute stuntscenes either.
They live in a world of alternative physics.

I'll save my money and spend it on the new Quentin Tarantino film instead.

Once upon a time in Hollywood with Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio. I'm not a huge QT fan (a little) but that one does look good too.

Sometimes it's nice to turn your age back to 12 for a couple of hours.

It's funny, because I even tried to stop these responses before they started.

Always meant to binge through "The Wire." Never seen a single episode. It would still be good now, right?

I don't mind one more Daniel Craig Bond movie one bit. I'd be all for Idris in the role- can't think of anyone else I'd rather see doing it.

If you raised your kids right, at 12 years old they are laughing at F&F movies.

Mine did.

I went to the the first F&F movie opening weekend, I went with a bunch of car friends, we all left embarrassed we witnessed that crap show.

We never saw another one since.

Especially since it ruined the street car scene in a matter of moments.


This was cool, that movie ruined it forever.

^I disagree. The first one is the best, 2F2F and Tokyo drift are tied for the worst. The rest fall somewhere in between.

They're fun to watch, feature cool cars and characters that are a soft parody of what they might be like in real life.

Those flicks seem similar to cartoons. I like cartoons, but they can't be stupid. Some of those movies were amusing, I think they always make money.

I like how the graphic for the Official Trailer makes Statham look somewhat the same size as the Rock. It ain't even close in real life.

I laughed about this seeing promos for Stranger Things with David Harbour and Winona Ryder - he's literally a foot taller than her.

I tend to like Statham and Johnson but I think I'll skip this - the trailers really do show pretty much everything.

I will watch it. On HBO when it is gets to video. I am not paying the money to go to the theater to see it.

"The Wire" is still the best show ever, IMO and most people who rate these things. Just binge watched "Bosch" and it was really good but not TW.

Daniel Craig is Bond for as long as he wants to be but who knows how long that is. They are in production on the latest Bond film w him at the moment. :cool:

My son is in town, so we caught a movie tonight, and that was the only thing that we were both open to seeing that was also playing at the right time. He wanted to see Once Upon a Time in LA, but it started 1/2 hour later and is ~1/2 hour longer (2:39, holy carp!).

If you've seen the first xXx movie with Vin Diesel, this is like that, but, I thought quite a bit better because Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson are much more entertaining, and the two of them together are great. The lead girl was also very good and Kevin Hart and Ryan Reynolds also had small parts that were entertaining. Idris Elba made a great bad guy. This really didn't seem remotely related to anything fast and furious.

Fun (over the top) fight scenes, but these days, what fight scenes aren't over the top. Over the top spy gadgety tech stuff. And quite a bit of comedy.

Yes, over the top stunts/action, but hey, if you can check your inner adult at the door and just embrace your inner 12 year old, then you may enjoy it.

I enjoyed it.

I watched it because Fred North is the best damn copter pilot in the film industry, plus the Kauai scenes are my old playground.
