Be pro active, and avoid Cleveland :)

In the gang video I think all you can do is duck and cover, maybe run. I know what I wouldn't have done. Was get out of my pick up. I would have floored that Beotch.

Video two in the truck looks like a shoot out with cops maybe after a high speed chase? If you are the two in the back seat I guess all you can do is huddle on the floor? Not many options in that one.

Remember the good ol' daze....when ammo was scarce :(?

flatbutt 07-12-2019 04:36 AM

Did I see bullets throwing sparks?

Any gun owners that would intervene?

No way would I return fire. Had I been in that pick up truck , I would have hauled ass backwards. If I was a pedestrian , I would have taken good cover behind a car. maybe say a little prayer, and keep moving away .
If something like this would ever happen when I was in my truck I would run everything in sight over till I was outta there .
I actually have a plan in place for all the intersections that I go through in the city . A few of them are pretty rough places, and I've seen some shady stuff happening there over the years . There have been multiple shootings at the one intersection in the last few years .

Why?
1) It would be illegal
2) who is the "bad guy"
3) huge personal risk for what gain?

Geronimo '74 07-12-2019 04:01 PM

Let’s say it happens during daytime and innocent bystanders are at risk.
Keep in mind, when the shooting starts one would not have all the info we have now. (Gang related shooting)
All of a sudden the shooting starts.
You’re in your truck or walking on the sidewalk, close enough to get shot, in real danger. Other people (strangers) also at risk and panicking.

You are a licenced gun owner and carrying.

Who would intervene?

We had a discussion a while back when the shooting at google or youtube (can’t remember which) hq happened.

Several members here said they would return fire.
Is this a different situation? And why?

+ 1
Pedal to the metal.

I don't remember that other discussion, but you don't return fire unless 1 you're being fired at / defending your life (or of your family) or 2 you know the situation and absolutely know who the good guys and who the bad guys are.

My dad was part of SAC and their unofficial motto was 'nuke them till they glowed and then shoot them in the dark'

Video two is clearly labeled and it's the roadblock shooting of the people who took over the wildlife refuge in Oregon, extreme right wing anti-government people. There is other video of that shooting that has been widely disseminated from the outside POV. The driver was armed and made some motions w his hands after they told him to keep them in the air, so he got smoked. No one else was shot, AFAIK.

In the first video, the driver of that PU truck should have high-tailed it out of there at the first shot. Not sure what his problem was.

fintstone 07-12-2019 06:20 PM

Looks like keystone cops in the first video

Looks like outright murder in the second video.

My older brother was a nuke on the Pollack, a Permit class nuclear fast attack boat. He used to wear a tee shirt that had a one eyed "frowney" face (a takeoff of the '70's "smiley" face) that said "nuke the gay baby whales". This was way back in the '70's.

I was in SAC (Combat Crew). We took our job very seriously...despite the levity. Some folks are just dying to be killed.
