Hamilton

Wifey and I saw the musical last night in SF. I’ve seen a few musicals but I’m not a big fan. I thought Hamilton was fantastic though. I dislike rap because I’m an old fart now but I loved the music with the rap. The choreography was excellent and the entire cast is so talented. What a creative story. The Tony Awards were well deserved.

Yup, seen it in Chicago with the wife, she took our daughter to see it in Detroit and said that cast was even better. We tend to see 1-2 stage shows a year and Hamilton is the best thing we've seen in a decade. Outstanding. And even though I'm 50 I loved the music.

I enjoy musicals, and that included Hamilton in SF.

Same here. Hamilton in SF was very well done. I enjoy musicals, too. So much so that I've been in a few. I'll be in Spamalot next summer. I can't wait.

I'd like to go but when it came to Houston a couple years ago tickets were over $1,000 each. I just checked and it looks like you can get tickets to Hamilton on Broadway cheaper than a traveling Hamilton show now.

I’ve seen a few- liked “The Music Man” with Dick Van Dyke the best. Then maybe “Les Miserables” next, then “Cats.” I’ll have to check ticket prices for “Hamilton.” I know it’s great.

Watched it on Disney Plus last night. I can see what all the fuss was about. It flowed very well, the music was awesome, and the parts were played and sung very well. Now I really want to see it in person. I've seen dozens of Broadway musicals and even though I haven't seen it in person yet, it may be the best I've seen.

Here is a podcast episode dedicated to the song Satisfied, if you really want to geek out:

Saw it live in Portland and it blew the wife and my socks off. The only musical I would consider seeing again. Absolutely fantastic.

Is this the play with all black actors playing white parts?

Yep... There's a thread about it in PARF.

Thanks Peter.

I always have to double check which section I'm in, when in threads like this. :-/

Edit: good thread there. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-politics-religion/1066506-hamilton-leftists-again-eating-their-own.html - thanks!

Did y'all notice how good the lighting was? - just spectacular. Someone deserves an award.

Daughter gave me tickets to the off-broadway touring group last November. Except for the woman with a beach ball for a head and her obnoxious, drunk daughter sitting directly in front of me, the play was okay.

But after watching the original, real thing last night on Disney, it was the difference between an original 912 and a new GT3.

That's good to hear, makes me glad I didn't spend $1,000 to see in Houston. I'll still see in Houston once prices are reasonable but my expectations will be muted.

Just watched thi on Disney.

SO GOOD! So very good. I’m a huge big musical fan. This one was a game changer. Modern.

I've seen it twice, once on Broadway with my wife and again last year with my wife and kids in San Francisco. We had a movie night and all watched it again when it premiered on Disney. I'm in awe at just how good it is.

Did this one make into the show?
