because if it's on the Internet, it must be true/real.

Several years ago, the idea of a large group of wackos storming area 51 would have been automatically dismissed as pure and utter nonsense, a joke.

But today, we live in a world where we can't turn on a TV without seeing a group of "empowered individuals," spurned on by elected idiots, doing something utterly nonsensical either in protest or just because they feel some need to associate with other idiots.

That is what happens when you give a voice to those who really should not be heard or at very least not listened to.
Stupidity is alive and well, untethered and uncontrolled.

I almost hoped it was real and that we would be able to read about some of these idiots learning today's lesson.
I wouldn't go so far as to wish for any of them to be taken out of the gene pool, but if it happened I'd struggle to shed a tear.
I'm thinking the posts about using gun ships and rockets against them proved some pelicans still have a sense of humor.

I would go if they would reschedule it for a cooler time of year.

BLM is cracking down on Burping Man so maybe they will all go to Area 51

911boost 07-15-2019 07:46 PM

I drove by there once in an RV on vacation and met this nice guy named Paul.

I'd go just for the laughs! :)

The idea of our military being deployed to murder our citizens seems to excite several of you. Having stood in Tiananmen Square on the 5th anniversary of the massacre, I don't share your enthusiasm.

Two completely different situations. . . .

Peaceful demonstration of opinion in a public arena (first amendment rights) vs. unlawful entry of a secured military installation.

Further, the airmen are STATIONED at Groom Lake/Area 51 not deployed.

The claim of the protestors that “they can move FASTER than bullets” proves this is some type of stunt.

After 24+ years in the Air Force let me give these people one tidbit of advice, the airmen charged with securing the facility and its billions of dollars of assets and personnel will not let you saunter on base just because you want to.

Deadly force is authorized and will be used.

OHhh but the head-on charge to storm 51 is a "feel-good thing" and should not be met with force.
I am sure these deployed to protect the place will understand and use Nerf guns.
Right?

ans-

They would not be deployed as they are all ready there.
That is a MILITARY BASE!
Do Try to understand the difference.

There is a funny story in AOPA that a guy flying in the area, had to declare an emergency and landed dead stick at Area 51 with no fuel. He was met with lots of security, and they held him over night. They gave him enough fuel to get out of there, and told him do not ever come back.

24 hours later he landed there again. They came out to arrest him with force, and he had a passenger, his wife. All the pilot said is now you guys tell my wife where I was last night!

Flash Mob Area51

Hmmm, it's a long way from Georgia to A51 so I guess I will wait and see the movie when it comes out!

There are some pretty good and true military stories about emergency landings at Groom Lake. Like even though you are active duty USAF you end up spread eagle on the tarmac with armed security, then several days of debrief before you are allowed to leave. I was on a flight test program where we did testing out of Nellis AFB in Vegas, the entire area was blocked out with a big red no fly square on our area maps. Their advice to our pilots was that if you have an emergency......land somewhere else.:D

I’d love to see this tried just for sheer amusement. There are lots of documented cases of people trying to sneak on, they don’t make it very far.

Only you would be stupid enough to compare the two.

I misused the term "deployed." Should have said "used."

I'm not condoning any who choose to do something so idiotic. Just reacting to those who like to fantasize about using the military against our own people. Ya know, like at Ruby Ridge, Waco, and elsewhere.

Always works out swell.
