Fenway/Boston Pelicans. . . Hotel Question
A friend of mine who played in the major-leagues with the Cardinals back in the 80s is taking a tour of all the major league parks in the country. He is starting His grand tour by going to a Yankees/Red Sox game at Fenway park.
Do any of you Pelicans who live in the area know which of these two Boston hotels are (close) walking distance to the Park. The hotels are the Hyatt Cambridge or the Royal Sonesta Boston. Looking at a map is a little confusing because there is a river that some people have mentioned you cannot cross directly over and it’s a little hard for us to figure out the closer hotel. So if anybody who is familiar with the area and knows which of these two hotels is close walking distance my friend would appreciate it greatly. thanks

Neither of those hotels are particularly close to Fenway. The Hyatt Cambridge is about a 45 minute walk. The Royal Sonesta is about an hour.

All the hotels near prudential center are ok and it’s about a half mile walk.

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill which was right by Mass. General Hospital.
It's roughly a 45 min walk or 30 by public transit to Fenway. It would be a nice walk, you pass Boston Common and walk right by the original Cheers.

Neither of those two hotels are close. It's a safe walk, but it's a lot farther than I would want to hike, particularly after the game. How about the Hilton or Sheraton in Back Bay? A lot closer, and more to do/see/eat in the immediate area. Or Hotel Buckminster is a couple blocks away, by BU. There is even a Residence Inn not too far away in the other direction. Still just a couple blocks away from Fenway.
Out of curiosity, if your friend is former MLB, is there some sort of arrangement MLB has with a local hotel? I used to know the head doc for Fenway Park, and he noted that once he traveled to San Francisco for non-MLB reasons, and whatever hotel the Sox traditionally stayed at was very accomodating to him at some $$ rate far below what he could have gotten himself as a private citizen.

He didn’t play long enough to cash in on the benefits available for the guys who played for several seasons, but I’ll pass on the info, maybe he will be able to get the benefit
Thanks guys for your insight, I appreciate it

Stay wherever you want, then take the "T." Public transportation is pretty good in the Boston area.

^^^ That's very true. It's fairly easy to get around Boston using the "T." Safe, cheap, & convenient. The Green Line stops at Fenway.
The Royal Sonesta is close to Kendall Sq, which has a Red Line stop. Take the Red Line to Park Street, and switch to the Green Line--just make sure it's the right one, as there are 4 Green Lines that eventually disperse to different endpoints. Your friend can look on the MBTA subway map. IIRC, the Hyatt Cambridge is not so convenient for T access--I can't think of any Red Line stop close by to it.
