The building I'm in has a 5000A, 600V supply and that's stepped down from 4160V. So higher voltage supply is not a problem.

The vast majority of EV owners will charge at home where they can charge at lower power over a longer time.

Doesn't help the Porsche any, but Tesla just opened a 250kw charging station in LV.

And yes, the math has been done, all of those solar panels could only power about one stall, but the point is to help charge the battery packs for peak demand smoothing. A big ongoing cost of these types of things is the temporary big draw periods, moderating that with batteries to provide the grid a more constant load saves a lot of $.

I'd like to see the math on the power savings by producing a shady spot to park vs the go-juice production.

That is, AC systems use a lot of power to bring a heat-soaked car interiors down from 150F or more.

Oh, and on almost powering one stall; I expect that is at peak conditions (high noon on a cool day)

During summer, the interior temperature of a sitting car can skyrocket. According to the Phoenix Fire Department, that interior temperature can reach 138 degrees in as little as five minutes and 150 degrees or higher in 15 minutes – even with the windows cracked.

Yeah, I do think the shady spot is probably a power savings too, especially in Vegas, there is a similar installation in California. The ones I've hit in WA/OR are all just uncovered parking lots so far.

Well sure, we have grey cover. What, 57F right now... gray.. the rest of the country is frying.

The best thing about those sunny State solar panel parking lots is the shade (IMO) :)
