986 seats into mid 80's 911

Can it be done? Is it a lot of work? The seat has 3 controls for movement and a manual bar to go forward and back. It's a porsche sport seat I had in 986.

Just why?

Weird modifications on air-cooled 911s really ruin the cars. Other than that, try the 911 tech board. There is 100 times the amount of knowledge there.

As long as it is reversible, why not.

Just changing the seat, not the 911 floor though the harness will need to be sliced.
I posted on 911 tech board. Thought I would try here first since it's a 986/996/911 question and you guys are "wicked" smart.
Thanks all for responding.

Why slice the harness?

Just run a fused hot wire to the seats.

I have done this modification and it is not too difficult. The hardest part was running the hot power line to the seats. (I had partially powered seats.)

You will not have enough clearance without more modifications for a fully powered seat. FYI

You will have to drill 4 holes on the existing seat rails.

Do a search on my user name and you will find my instructional response how to do this. (Mechanically inclined, but I am still not good at adding a hyperlink to my posts, sorry).

In this install described, you will sit slightly higher using the existing seat rails. If your head is close to the headliner, you may want to reconsider this modification.

The Boxster seats are great seats. I recommend this modification.
