Best Showerhead of 2013

How domesticated I have become...Next I am going to be asking if this color lamp shade matches my drapes...

I recently moved into a new place and I am always frustrated by the lack of pressure in the cheap-o apartment showerhead. I like a little more flow. I would much rather be pounded (therapauticly) on my back then it feel like a 78 year old man is peeing on me.

Stop.Start.A little off to the side.

I know that some of you are world travelers and could possibly reccomend a good head for me. I have heard good thing about Holiday Inn, and I am fond of that model, just don't know the specifiic name and model. I stayed at a Mariott that had a rainforest showerhead which was nice but more of a gimick.

As always there is a budget involved, but I am a bachelor, so frivilous spending is the name of the game.

GROHE - Shower Heads & Side Showers - For your Shower

I'm a Grohe guy. They should have whatever you're looking for at a bit higher (but far from the highest) price. They're well designed, made with high quality materials and hold up forever.

But there are as many brands as there are types. Moen, Delta, Kohler, Waterpik etc.

I was at Home Depot and saw this one. Picked it up since it was cheap (figured I could always return/ exchange it) and I have to say, it is a dang great shower head for the money.

The best shower by today standard. With t his, you don't even have to drill or remove the water restriction screen. it will blast your skin off your back. I push for this shower head on all my clients because it just works well. A little over 100 bucks.

Check how much water is coming out of the shower head by unscrewing the shower just to check float. You will know if you get a face full of water blasting at you.

Wow, a serious thread about shower heads. I give it a page before it goes where I think it's going.

Glacier Bay 2 stage showerhead from Home Depot. It costs $18...

Then take it apart and remove the center of the rubber restrictor with an exacto knife or razor blade. Reinstall the rubber washer/restrictor.

Works great....

I am sure removing the restrictor from any show head wil help.

If you need enough pressure to push a "Higgins" down the drain, you need a top of the line shower head.

Are you kidding? This isn't the first time we have had a serious talk about shower heads. Do a search.

I think Jferr006 was going for women's entertainment use of shower heads...

Since the ladies have indeed chimed in and drug this thread to the gutter (or to Lube's level... ) This is what we have in our master:

Moen Brushed nickel handheld shower - 3836BN

She has her reasons for enjoying it (can clean hard to reach tiles, etc...) I like it cuz I can take my dogs in there after hunting and get a good washdown on them relieving them of any bugs they may have picked up in the field.

I'm actually really picky about shower heads, strictly for showering purposes. I get cold easily so it has to have a broard stream and good pressure for hair washing. Right now I think we have a Moen, nothing crazy, maybe a $75-100 fixture.

This is correct. Never know what to expect on PPOT.

So you're not as picky for other purposes?

I thought I should specify im referring strictly to showering when I said that ... I can't comment on anything else that people may or may not do with shower heads. Lets be clear about that.

Err, back on topic.

Take the exsiting shower head off and run the water. If there is plenty of flow choose whatever shower head you like. If there isn't a lot of flow choose a shower head with small holes - water saver type showerheads. And remove the flow restrictor.

In a rental of my GF's I looked at the shower and thought I could pee better than that and GF didn't want to buy a new shower head because the shower was no good anyway... So I bought a fine holes type showerhead for her and the tenants love it.

Another tenant used to have 45 minute showers and complained of running out of hot water. I put the same type of showerhead on but with the flow restrictor and she loves it. She thinks there is a bigger hot water cylinder

Really, soak it in CLR if it's getting gummy.

If flow is weak, look at adjusting the pressure regulator a little at a time. Screwing it in gives more pressure usually. Do it a little at a time if older piping.
