I think 3 to 4 seconds a day I would be my upper limit. I’m used to much smaller variations than that. Granted, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a $100 watch, apart from some junk quartz Casio’s that I bought for times where I didn’t want to wear a good watch. |
Today I received the Citizen Eco drive watch I ordered online . Nice looking watch and I have it charging under a table lamp at the moment . Tomorrow I will get some sun light on it . Looks like a nice watch for $69.00 .

40 seconds quicker a day, 20 minutes ahead every month.... Thats too much, even for a beater watch IMO. Mine isn't that bad, but bad enough to notice the inaccuracy after while and another while and another while.... |
This happens twice a year (or so). Solar powered and really great reviewed Citizens diver watch for $89.00. 4 1/2 stars on over 1000 reviews on Amazon. 24 hours sale.

I added another Tag Heuer watch to the collection and decided to finally get an automatic.
I've only had it a few weeks and it dies after not much more than a day of not wearing it verses the claimed 38 hour reserve so I'm wondering what is proper procedure for keeping an automatic watch wound? Honestly, I just found out that it can be wound in addition to the automatic winding from just wearing it. I wound it today so I'll find out this weekend when I don't wear it for over a day if keeps running. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617811607.JPG |

I think my watch is supposed to have 42 hours reserve. I can not wear it for 24 -36 hours and I'm fine, but if it goes much longer than that, it may not die, but it will be behind. If you aren't going to watch it every day, then I'd recommend getting a watch winder so you never have to worry about it. If I ever end up with more than one auto watch, I'll have a winder. I don't want to have to worry about setting time, much less any other complications like day, date, etc.... I wonder if, since you don't wear it every day all of the time, maybe you aren't getting it completely wound. This is why I'd love to have one of the reserve meters. |
I also have heard using a watch winder is good if you are not wearing every day . I just bought a Seiko off the 928 posting Glen posted a few weeks ago . Haven't received the watch yet but it has shipped . It is my understanding that the Seiko is a self winder so I will be in the same boat . It's been a very long time since I have had a self winder so a new experience .

I wouldn't mind using a watch winder but since it's my primary watch, I don't want the hassle of putting it in one. I'd like a winder I can just lay the watch on. Do they move so much that it wouldn't work that way?

I love my Invicta
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617830931.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617830759.jpg Ran like a champ for 10 years and then the stem broke so I had the entire mechanism replaced for about $100. Self winding are great as long as you wear it every day or two. Otherwise you have to reset the date and time. |
