Why are all the Calgary games blacked out? There's no attendance so what gives?

Money....we only get regional games. You have to buy a package to get 'everything'.

Regional rights are sold separately from national. There might even be two owners in your area. (SN and TSN).

Don't you get a real team for your regional coverage? i.e. Les Canadiens?

Or, God forbid, Toronto or Ottawa?

Yet we get a ton of meaningless basketball games jammed up the wazoo - good for the ballers though but as you point out - most probably revenue driven.

It is irritating, I get NHL center ice to watch the Wings (because apparently I enjoy being let down) but I cannot watch the Av's on it since it is blacked out and the biggest cable company in the area does not carry the regional sports channel.

Small consolation, but the league is less 'bush league' than it used to be. Lots of teams did not televise games locally.

The next US contract will be interesting. The NHL has traditionally not chosen its partners with a long term game plan in mind.

Saw that game, two of my favorite teams, but when they play each other, I go for
the Flames. If there ever was a team of underdogs it be them. Looch is my fav, and he had a good game.

Vancouver on the other hand is dreadful right now. Time for a new coach I think.

The Canuckles are far too easy a team play against: dead last in goals against & 27th of 31 teams in the "simple rating system".
It always seems to be the tried & true axiom; when a team's fortunes go sideways - the coach gets gassed.

Hey Finn - this is starting to look as though we have the makings for a looong frustrating season.
Hopefully things will get sorted out - there is a lot of young talent on the team which should bode well for the future.

Last night; played representative hockey for approx. 50 mins; then back to
"form" - 2 goals - 11 secs. apart - same old story - different day.
At least it is sunny today - chilly (3°C) but sunny
