A hundred years ago I heard a trade joke:

what's the difference between a millwright and plumber?
A millwright sticks his butt where a plumber sticks his face.

joking aside, plumbing is an honorable skill and profession and there's more to it than most people realize.
I bet the hardest part of being a plumber is fixing all the stuff that do-it-yer-selfers screw up.
Prolly the most profitable part too.

I thought plumbing was easy. Hot on the left cold on the right and crap won't go uphill.SmileWavy

Don't take toilet advice from a guy named Leakyseals.

Should you not be using porcelain, rather than ceramic, tiles for flooring?

It's perfectly fine to use ceramic tiles on a floor, just not wall tiles that are too slick or too thin.

Never had a wax seal issue. I think it fills nooks / crannies and misalignment much better than a piece of rubber. It also does not get brittle or stiff with age / ozone etc.

I also , before installing the toilet, packed plumber caulk around the flange and in all the extra holes in it. This way if there ever is a leak it will show at the back of the toilet where there is no caulking.
