That wheel had to be be making a horrible noise the driver just ignored.

Only when turning left funnily enough. We were young and dumb, I told him his wheel bearing was likely failing at lunch the same day it fell off lol.

Can’t imagine the gut wrenching sounds those people had to put up with for quite a while on those brake neglect stories.

It’s astonishing the level of unawareness many people have.

“You didn’t hear that?”
“Um... no”
“You did feel that?”
“Um...no.”
“You didn’t see the smoke?”
“Um, I thought it wasn’t a big deal.”

Just because someone has the right to post something doesn't mean it isn't rude, offensive, or in poor taste. Rights and common courtesy are not mutually exclusive.

There is a difference between a request and a demand.

Bob & Masraum - I remember that to this day - could not believe it. When I asked him how he stopped it - he said he drove slow and used the emergency brake!

One of the parts stores that I worked at (3 years, 3 different stores for the same company) had a guy stop his caddy by running into the wall. The room where the brake lathe lived had a section of wall the size and shape of the front end of a caddy pushed in about 6".

That's probably the balance point. There is nothing but a hollow space for a few feet after the driver's seat.
