Here's some pics of my friend's 'vette project

Which I mentioned on another thread (fertilizer boats etc.,) when we then got on the Corvette topic.

Wow, nice rust free body! .

Good stuff.

I always liked those old, finned AL valve covers with the script.

Well, as you know there is a few bits of steel (more than a few) and my friend replaced a lot of small pcs especially around the doors. He freshened up the inside plates of steel inside the fibre glass where the doors need strength so as not to sag.
and most of all the other places where solid strength is needed, suspension and such.

This is going to be a nice little car when he's done.

thanks for lookin'

There's nothing more American than a vintage Vette!

And yes those rocker covers look cool.

The rams horn manifolds are not bad either.

Grew up next door to a guy who once had a '60. He'd always make us shut the door by bring it right up to the closed position and then give it a firm shove. Never slam it. Said the bottom half of the door would break as the door rubber would put forces on it that weren't good. Made sense, so that is how I close 'vette doors now, even the new ones.

I like it. Drove a 58 dual 4 barrel 4 speed recently. Sounded as good or better than anything I have heard. Drive experience? D-- maybe it needed bushings? A sad, sad day.

Old Vettes rock. My buddies 65 has been apart for about 10 years. The last few months we have put in the windshield, exhaust, brakes, bumpers and most all exterior trim and driven it 25 miles or so. It still needs side glass and some interior and serious under hood details but we are having fun with it every Saturday.

That body style and up through I think 1967 just looks right to my eye . Very classic looking and not too big .

This body style with a few changes along the way ended with the 62, then came
the mid year cars, my favorites 63-67 inclusive. After that, the next cars never appealed to me. Some people liked them, I guess.

This '61 will be nice when complete and I'll show you some pics then.
Thanks for looking

Mine is on hold for bit.

Yellow Peril's friends car may pass me and get to the spray booth sooner :-)

(thaks for starting this thread. It's going to be interesting to watch and learn from the progress.)

For those of you that have never sat behind the wheel and driven a nicely restored one - you are really missing out. My opinion - that Chevy took more than a few clues from European sports cars of the same era but blended sexy and muscle at the same time.

The rear upper body and chrome surround the seats and 'frame' you. Love these.

I never have any desire to own a vintage Vette. But I do admire the design and even more so the passion and effort folks put into restoring them! Very Cool!

Cheers
