the rare porsche that burned in ohio.....

i can't find the thread but the fire in medina ohio (where i just moved from more or less) which burned a rare porsche race car plus tons of other big dollar stuff.....
anyway i was talking to a friend tonite, and he told me our other friend is working the site, meaning all he's been doing is moving big hunks of melted cars around for the inspectors and insurance companies in a bobcat.....
hopefully i'll get some good camera phone pics to post of the carnage, from my understanding it's pretty amazing stuff

Sad Porsche fire

Some info in another thread in the 911 tech forum - looks like the rare P-car could be a 962.

I am his daughter- It was not a Porsche coach. It was a Prevost with a Porsche sticker on it. That is it.

even though it was 4 years ago still sucks to see these pics.....i completely forgot about this thread......
hope your dad recouped his loss of his collection, and porsche sticker or not that was still a valuable rv.......

my friend cringed everytime the insurance people told him to” move this over there” with his bobcat when they were doing the initial investigation....

I read the title as meaning that it's rare that a Porsche burns in Ohio.

that is because they rust away before that

(ok, technically rusting & burning are very similar, but... it is the speed of oxidation that differs -- or in southern Ahia, "ox-e-day-sherun")

Very, very sad to see this. somehow I had been completely unaware that this had happened. I hope the insurance company treats him right and doesn't try to hose him on anything. Money is nice but some of the cars can not be replaced.
That sucks.
I sure hope nobody was home

I don't remember the specifics, but iirc it was a large multi unit storage facility where the fir started from one of the other units.....and no one was hurt.

Hey now!! Show us a little love! (some of us are even former Kalifornia residents who brought their P-cars to the buckeye state )

At one time, I read that Ohio had more people of German descent than any other state. I think that may help explain why there are so many Porsches in Ohio. It seems like every barn in Ohio has a 911 or a 914 sitting in it, I kid you not!

As I recall a guy in the warehouse unit next door set the fire. Very sad, but in April he was at a DE with a 962 (956?) & an IndyCar. It was WAY COOL when he blew by me on the back-straight at Mid-Ohio in his 962!
