Bought a Mach 3 as wd suggested, seems to be the same plastic piece, but its pressed in, I'll try and pry it gently out.

Maybe you can just crack the sleeve around it with a pair of plyers.

I would relieve the squeeze on the plastic by cutting with a Dremel cutoff wheel or file a groove in it. Prying it out might damage it.

wd, that is exactly what I was thinking. Its a $7 razor, and appears to have the same dimensions of the plastic piece as the one that is failing, At that price, I'll go through a few if I have to. The weight and the feel of the handle is really nice, but I would NEVER have bought such an expensive razor, but my wife did so..... the shaving brush, maybe, it's really nice, and I use one up about every 20 years or so. Its just the way I have shaved for 45+ years. Boar's bristle,its the only way to shave.

Again, for the life of me, I don't understand why Gillette, Proctor & Gamble, Art of Shaving would sort of advertise a razor as an heirloom (they don't really but, they sort of do) and not offer a free, or a few dollar replacement for a piece of plastic, if they think its a marketing strategy and if it fails I'll buy another one, guess again.

Interesting tip bit, I called Art of Shaving a few days ago and asked about the plastic piece and they said "NO", BUT the on-line representative said even though it was out of the one year warranty, (6-7 years old) he'd send me a pre-paid debit card for $100 towards a new one, and return the old one.

I then emailed P&G (Again parent company of Art of Shaving) about the same issue (trying to go up the food chain), and they said "NO" also but offered me a $40 debit card towards another one. The first one was just a phone call, and the 2nd one has my name and address, maybe I can get $140 towards a new one? But if I can fix the old one with a few minutes with a dremel and a $7 Mach 3, I'll try that first.

Why on Earth would P&G/AOS be so quick to offer up such sums on a product out of warranty?

You're from Ohio, enough said. But duck tape has saved me many times. I did Elmer's glue on the old one in, and it still didn't work so well, it ticks me off that the cheap release mechanism for the blade is crap.

Why in the world would you use Elmer’s glue
for this? Use CA glue at a minimum.

I thought about epoxy, super glue, etc. But because if it does ultimately fail, I want to be able to get it out. No real strength required, just don't want it slipping out when I want to change blades.
