They should send you a new razor.
In theory. It's called customer service. What you are getting is customer "no" service, as Clark Howard calls it. I'd keep calling them about a replacement until they cave. Squeaky wheel.... |
Bought a Mach 3 as wd suggested, seems to be the same plastic piece, but its pressed in, I'll try and pry it gently out.
|
Maybe you can just crack the sleeve around it with a pair of plyers.

Again, for the life of me, I don't understand why Gillette, Proctor & Gamble, Art of Shaving would sort of advertise a razor as an heirloom (they don't really but, they sort of do) and not offer a free, or a few dollar replacement for a piece of plastic, if they think its a marketing strategy and if it fails I'll buy another one, guess again. |
Interesting tip bit, I called Art of Shaving a few days ago and asked about the plastic piece and they said "NO", BUT the on-line representative said even though it was out of the one year warranty, (6-7 years old) he'd send me a pre-paid debit card for $100 towards a new one, and return the old one.
I then emailed P&G (Again parent company of Art of Shaving) about the same issue (trying to go up the food chain), and they said "NO" also but offered me a $40 debit card towards another one. The first one was just a phone call, and the 2nd one has my name and address, maybe I can get $140 towards a new one? But if I can fix the old one with a few minutes with a dremel and a $7 Mach 3, I'll try that first. Why on Earth would P&G/AOS be so quick to offer up such sums on a product out of warranty? |
Y'all are some mighty fine gentlemen. I would have solved this issue on the spot. With duct tape.
|
You're from Ohio, enough said. But duck tape has saved me many times. I did Elmer's glue on the old one in, and it still didn't work so well, it ticks me off that the cheap release mechanism for the blade is crap.
|
Why in the world would you use Elmer’s glue
for this? Use CA glue at a minimum. |

And for the record, I am from Michigan...a state quite a bit lower on the totem pole from Ohio :)

Hugh, maybe you could show your bride that ad and she’d say screw ‘em. If they want to cater to the 1/2 of 1%r’s then they’d better be prepared to lose way more than that. I too went with Harry’s. They recently got bought out by Schick who isn’t much better. Sorry to go politico and not offer a better solution for you. Good luck. |
Posting this link just in case others here don't know what we're mentioning. No need to discuss, since it was discussed on Parf.

I have a hefty brass handle that uses the standard track 2 blades. Am I to understand that the handle for this art of shaving thing is greater than $140? yikes, $175 |
