GoodRx for prescriptions.....
 

I have Medicare A and B (After market Aetna actually) and the GoodRx price is sometimes better than my Medicare plan. The phone app will tell you what the prices are at various local pharmacies. They vary from store to store. Anyone else use/have thoughts on GoodRx?

Downloaded it and used it today. My physician turned me onto it.

One word. Walmart.

It’s great and often cheaper than my plan. I guess one downside is that prescriptions bought through them won’t count towards your deductible.

Also, for those not on Medicare, always check the drug company’s websites for copay assistance. Only criteria to get it is that you don’t have a government sponsored program which is crazy.

I've been using it for the past 6 months or so at Costco. The RX cost at CVS was $24 or so, WITH insurance. I can get the RX filled at Costco for $12.36 without insurance and I no longer have to even show the GoodRX scan for the price. After the first 2 or 3 scripts filled, they automatically entered it in the system.

We’ve used it numerous times over the years. Always good to check it before buying.

How do they make their money?

I did look up my Lisinopril and I get it cheaper on my health plan, but it is a real cheap prescription to start with.

Another tip is to ask your prescribing doctor for samples, or if there is a discount program available for the RXs that you are getting.

I had been on Coumadin, and having to go get blood tested every month at the hospital was a pain in the azz. I asked my Cardiologist about Eliquis, and he agreed. After taking Eliquis for a year, and having to pay $65 a month after what my insurance paid, I asked my doctor again. He handed me an Eliquis contact card, that I was able to call, and set myself up for discounts. I now only pay $10 a month, and last month was free for some reason. I can't complain about saving $55+ a month !

I looked into GoodRX after getting a shock at the pharmacy. The prescription drug industry in this country is completely out of control. It makes NO sense.

The manufacturer's list price for the drug is $1150 for a month's supply.

BUT!

CVS will sell it for $645

BUT THERE'S MORE!!

If I print out a GoodRX coupon CVS will sell it to me for $95

AND THE DEALS JUST KEEP COMING!!

Take a GoodRX coupon to Kroger and the price out the door is $17.85

This is simply insane. $1150 -> $17.85 without any insurance or subsidy. How can any of this be legitimate? The sad part is if you are too sick to go shopping for a price you just pay whatever the first source asks, and hope to find a good tasting cat food to get you through the month.

The $1150 is probably the original Brand label price, but $17.50 is shocking even if it is the generic label.
