Why did they put that red cover on that right rear tire that was shredded? Protection? Hide something? |

Design an object that weighs less than 2000 pounds, that can go 180 mph, and can protect the driver if someone hits you broadside at 125mph. That is not a thing.
Auto racing is dangerous. Godspeed sir. |
A reminder that, in spite of all the safety improvements to cars, tracks and personal equipment, this is still a dangerous sport that claims and maims drivers. I think that we, as fans, get used to seeing horrific crashes and drivers walking away relatively unscathed and lose sight of how dangerous this is. Then we are reminded by the loss of a driver.

Horrific crash :(
F2 driver Juan Manuel Correa involved in the crash appears to be in a bad way, wishing him a speedy recovery https://www.planetf1.com/news/correa-in-icu-stable-but-critical/ This happened at Monza today during a F3 race  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLoANuuj7CE Very lucky escape, can't imagine how high and far a much faster F1 car would have travelled |
