Question for IT guys
 

A ingnoramus when it comes to posting boards. One I visit has a "new guy" posting. 7 posts so far. All innocuous responses to threads, something like "love this thread"..."very interesting topic", etc.

It's like something is being set up...but what?????????

Possibly the board has a minimum number of posts before you can do X (ie, post in a classified or for sale section or start your own thread or....

That's not unusual.

He could still be a wanker.

Or he could even just not quite "get it" and just wants to be involved.

Or he's a scammer/spammer and is trying to build up a little history before he get nefarious on the board.

Some boards have a minimum number of replies before you can start a thread specifically to prevent bots or scammers from starting new threads all the time as Steve posted.

Some don't let you start a thread until x number of posts. Some have X rated areas that can't be accessed until a certain numbet of posts are achieved. Google won't allow advertising if light porn is in open access so it gets hidden in a VIP section that requires access approval by a mod after a certain number of posts.

Maybe their PARF is down?
