cant seem to get anyone to come out and give me a price.
I sheet rocked the entire room and was going to let someone else mud it but I gave up and just did it myself.
scraping is still an option but I don't think I am up to all that ceiling work.

If the existing ceiling is not painted, you can mist on water from a spray bottle, wait a few minutes, and it will scrape right off. If it's painted, water will not soak in, and it will be tough. In that case, I've used a sander with dust collector.
You can match that close enough. Thin some spackle to the consistency of frosting, lay on a very thin layer. Then pull it away with plastic or a flat trowel.
