Top of the foot pain
Lately, the top of my right foot has a small 2” area of shooting pain. It’s just right of center, between the toes and ankle.
I’ve not done anything different, injured myself, etc. its not tender to the touch. It’s just comes and goes every few minutes with a vengeance and hurts like **** for a few minutes. Even with no weight on it. From a previous thread, I said I was released from my primary doctor because I hadn’t seen him in 6 years. I made an appointment with another doctor.....for November 11th. It’s a meet and greet, where I can then schedule an appointment/physical.... for appointments in February. Since I can’t get a quick doctors appointment, has anyone stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and have ideas what it might be? Edit: My other pain would be on my right collar bone between my shoulder and neck. It hurts like hell too. It sucks getting old. See location in the picture. ![]() |

Do you associate the pain in the two sites with one another?
That is an area that may prove difficult to visualize on plain film radiographs. What else is wrong with you? Is it every few minutes around the clock, does it keep you from sleeping, does it wake you up? When you say shooting, do you mean like you got shot? Does it radiate toward your toes and ankle, or top to bottom? Is it like an electric shock, ice pick, red hot poker, how would you describe it? Is it better or worse with shoes, is it aggravated by anything, like walking, or salsa dancing? Sorry, threw in the dancing thing because I had a patient do that right after I did surgery on them. "You told me I could not walk, I was dancing, not walking."

Sometimes the pain is at both sites at the same, but mostly in the evening.
I'm healthy (subjective, but do need to lose a few lbs). The pain is during the day but mostly evening and i have woken up to it. It's one spot on the top only of my right foot. it doesn't radiate out or shift and feels like a fast stabbing pain that makes me move my foot to distract me from it. Looking at images online, I just see skin and thin bones in there. Quote:

You will want xrays to start. Tough place to see much, but that is where you want to start. That is base of 3rd or 4th metatarsal, maybe joint, maybe a little crack in bone. Sort of an unusual place to have pain.

I had a similar pain and the fix was as simple as getting different shoes. Tried that ??

I'm no doctor and don't play one on TV. However, if joint related, could gout be a remote possibility? Usually it shows with pain in the big toe joint, though..

Probably not gout, it does not present as described typically. It is excruciating and relentless.
I would try arch supports to start. I like Superfeet ones, saw some Sof Sole ones that looked pretty good at Cabela's How does it respond to ibuprofen or aspirin? The shoulder pain, is it toward the end of your collarbone?

Totally disagree, Doctor.
It's an anatonomical problem. His foot bone is connected to his collar bone. Last edited by Crowbob; 09-18-2019 at 08:20 PM.. Reason: none |

So at the bottom of this page was an ad about plantar fasciitis.
What are the odds? |

I do not know the odds but you need an adblocker. I get no such ads.

I’ve been wearing the same boot/shoe for 15 years. Replaced as needed.
Ibuprofen and aspirin do nothing. I’ll try some arch support. Hadn’t thought about that. Collar bone pain in the middle between my shoulder and neck. It feels like a hot pain. I’m falling apart! Quote:

I had something similar a few months back. I might happen and night which really messes with sleep.
I have been going to a chiropractor and getting period adjustments on my feet. The pain has not recurred.

Yeah, your cuboid can slip a bit and give you symptoms like that.
You want to remove insole that came with the boot, can use it as a template for the supports.

It is all resonating pain due to the mis-alingment of the foot you walk on.
Knees. Hips. Spine Shoulders. Neck. Head. Total balance. Start from the source... Realign. Practice walking upright in all situations at your own pace. Back straight. Stay frosty. Warm up those joints with slow knee bends and gentle twisting. Be cognizant of what hurts and fix it there and then....before it spreads. Last edited by john70t; 09-19-2019 at 03:51 PM.. |

Loosen your shoes and get something softer and more fitting.
Invest in $5 gel pads. Drink water. Take breaks. Stretch throughout the day. Do what works. Everything above can not be fixed, until the source of the problem is fixed. Last edited by john70t; 09-19-2019 at 03:54 PM.. |
