Non-grid connected solar powered mini split system

Pretty interesting product, and while not technically new, they seemed to have worked out some of the kinks over the years.

It is a DC powered mini split system that is connected directly to solar panels and runs for "free", obviously only during the day.

Seems they are targeting to augment a typical house air conditioner system, though they do have the ability to connect to AC so the system can run when the sun is down or cloudy. Only available in 12k or 18k btu so wouldn't be enough for a typical sized home. Could be interesting for tiny home's that are not grid-tied already.

Anyways, thought some of you guys might be interested in learning more. No affiliation.

1800 bones for a 12,000 btu DC powered AC....

I'll put that on the list with a 2,000 dollar stand alone propane fridge.... Oh and a giant solar farm....

It's not $1800...

you have to buy the solar panels too:D

I have been thinking about bootlegging a system like it for a long time, and not pay those thieves call Water and Power. A regular mini split system will run 900 bucks, but it requires power. 2k will take a long time to catch up but it will if run all summer long in hotter climates

Essentially. It's worth it if you have property in rural areas without utilities....

Yea, I can't see that as a logical thing to get. It is hot here at night quite often. The sun goes down, the AC quits and it is still 90+ outside. And enough solar power will cost lots of money.

But I ain't the one shopping for it.

If the price was right it would be perfect for a garage. If I was 26 instead of 66 I'd look into it. Not that much garage time in my future, I think.

It can also be connected to AC power to run if the sun's not available. Not sure if it can automatically switch over or not
