Durametric

Hi,
Do I hook up to car and computer and then turn car engine on or turn on engine then hook up? The instruction say put key to accessory position and then hook up cable so I am guessing hook up and then start motor.
Thanks

put the key to accessory and then hook up as stated. you don't need to start the car.

I'm checking cam deviation.

My car doesn't care (either).

Sorry going off video I watched. Tabu is testing with durametric while some dude is sitting in the car. Assumed there to run engine.

My cars don't seem to care which is hooked up first.

My laptop seems to like the cable to be plugged into the USB before I open the Durametric software.

It should be: plug the connector in to the OBDII then key 'on' - engine off - the unit has to establish communication and then identify the vehicle and what equipment it has. It cannot do this with the engine running.

Once you retrieve any DTC's then go to a path that may or may not require the engine running.
