Is that William Shatner singing???:D JK
It's sounds a little up tempo for me.. Very few bands that I've heard can capture the true essence of Jimmy's music.
In a club setting it might have a different effect.

Respectfully, Todd, this is not your bag. Let Jimi R.I.P.

nostatic 03-28-2003 07:48 PM

so Doug, you mean this particular tune (covering Jimi), the chops/style in general, or me and music overall? ;)

btw, I think Shatner sold a few records, but I'm partial to Nimoy's "singing".

Doug Zielke 03-30-2003 09:42 AM

Todd,
From the samples I've heard over the 'net, you are a *fine* player.
It's the style I'm talking about.
I qualify my comments, by saying I don't play any instruments.
But I do listen to a lot of Jazz, Blues, and 60's and 70's Rock.

There are some bassists that try to "do" Jaco Pastorius; deep shoes to fill.

nostatic 03-30-2003 08:23 PM

are you refering to the fretless solo in the middle? I thought that was somewhat buried with all the other nonsense going on :)

Actually, I conciously try avoid obvious Jaco-esque stuff. I play fretless probably 95% of the time, but I've never had anyone say I sound like him. The funny thing is that some other people commented that the guitar stuff sounded like Carlos Santana. I cut my teeth on Clapton, Hendrix, Trower, Allman, etc. I did some Santana tunes over the years, but never considered him a major influence. Go figure...

William Shatner doing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is truly one of the funniest things you will ever hear.

I really like it, sounds good.,,.,.,well, except for the singing. .,..,. but the band sounds great.SmileWavy

it's actually drum loops I assembled, and every other noise is my fault. So I'll take credit for the "band", and plead the 5th on the vocals :)

Loose the singer

Your mik guy is country-backround singer @ best. The music has some good vibes, but mik-man devalues the beats...IMHO.
